Profiles using images that aren't theirs

Sevenoaks

I saw a profile today that has well over a hundred verifications and yet when browsing through their pictures saw a photo I recognised of a female friend of mine. The photo is taken from their Instagram account with the face removed and a watermark placed over the photo. I recognised the photo straight away as it has been my friend's cover photo.

Now it is definitely not my friend in the other pictures nor is she into this lifestyle. Her husband also has a sleeve tattoo and the male in this profile has no tattoos. What I don't understand is why a verified profile would use another person's image?

I had my photos taken from another site, and a couples profile was set up with all my pics. I did report it, but there is nothing stopping them doing it again

We found our photos on someone else’s profile. Reported it, admins deleted it. Cheeky fuckers couldn’t believe it

I was on another site chatting to a female thinking she's genuine.

Afterwards come across the same pictures on a verified females account on fab.

I saw a profile that had pictures which were screen shots of a porn video. I knew they were as it was one of my favourite videos and I’ve watched it loads of times.

I reported it but the pictures are still on the profile.

The question isn’t so much ‘why a verified profile would use another person’s image’ but more, how can a profile that’s using fake pictures get verified?

So if your friend was using it as her instagram profile picture then it must be a picture of her fully clothed, which means the fab user that stole it must have a very similar body size and shape to your friend to be able to get verified without any of the people verifying her being able to tell that it’s not her in the picture. So why has the fab user gone to all the effort of searching instagram for a picture of someone who has a body that is similar enough to hers that people who’ve met her won’t know it isn’t actually her….when she could have just taken a picture of herself fully clothed and hidden her own face…..if it was a naked picture and the fab user didn’t want to post a picture of herself naked then it’s understandable, still wrong but understandable. If the fab user thought that more people would be attracted to the picture of your friend in clothes than a picture of her in clothes then it would be understandable, still wrong but understandable. But if their bodies are so similar that someone who’s met her won’t know it isn’t a picture of her then i don’t understand why she didn’t just use a picture of herself in clothes.

You say that it’s definitely not your friend in the other pictures but I’m just wondering how you can tell that it’s not her, does she look completely different in the other pictures than your friend looks in her picture that was copied?

It could have been the same person on both sites, you obviously had a profile on both sides so what’s your issue with her having a profile on both sites? Why would you think that seeing the same pictures on two different sites is suspicious?

You see this often. One avenue is for work, one is for pleasure.

I have no evidence and too feel there are pics that do not belong to the member here

For that reason if/when we are nearing to agree a meet, we insist on the other person/guy to hold our user name next to their face

I guess FS can only do so much and it is up to you to take extra care when talking to/chatting/messages etc that info you provide may be shared

One other thing we never do is send or accept pics other than via fab.

Even those with several reviews, where we are nearing a possible meet agreement, I check the reviewers profiles as the last thing we want is for us to end up being taken advantage of.

Rather post about it, report it as Fab Mods can't be everywhere. Together we make this place safer.

I must shoulder some blame for fake profiles using other people's pics on *some* users.

Their verification picture, showing their faces, holding a bit of paper with the Web address and their username.

Set in public pics for all to see.

It's just asking to be copied, then you can spoof as much as you want.

Anyone sees this please warn users to take it private, any mods see it, same.

You want a site with less fakes? Help those less technical.
