Jeez some people are so shallow! It wouldn't stop me meeting someone.

I met a lady quite a few times who had a skin condition, only stopped meeting because she moved away. X

If it isn't contagious I don't see the problem.

What some people may see as aesthitically distasteful, others may not. It's no more an issue than meeting someone with a limb missing for example. So may find it repulsive, others wont. I don't think its being 'shallow' to not meet people with physical disfigurements anymore than it's not shallow not having the ability to clean up someone elses sick for example.

As true as you say, such conditions aren't contagious but I suppose some people will be put off anyway - suppose its depends on the person.

Why is it shallow?? Depending on the severity it is off putting to a lot of people, that doesn't make them shallow

I (Amy) have psoriasis on my bum and Vince could never understand why I always wanted meets to know beforehand.

It may be quite common and obviously it's not contagious but it dents MY confidence a little and, admittedly, it would probably destroy my self-esteem if we ever got that one meet who reacted badly to it...

It may not mean anything to most people but I prefer them to be aware. x

That's totally understandable, things that are insignificant to others can mean so much more to yourself when you live with them.

Hmm, may have to give that a go.

I've usually just stuck with sudocreme but it can be a pain to apply because of how thick it is. x

I agree it does affect your confidence when you get an adverse reaction fron folk. Kids dont bother if they see it some will ask adults are worst.

One of best treatments that worked for me was light treatnent similar set up to sunbeds but with totally different kind of light. Creams etc have not really helped.

Depends how bad it was and what it was

Some skin condition tho harmless can flear up quite bad and if im going to be honest i wouldnt want to meet someone who had scabs and flacky skin, it wouldnt be nice if while you was playing little bits was flacking off onto you

Why is it shallow? Is it any different from people not meeting those with tattoos, piercings, beards, hairy backs etc? We all have our own benchmark as to what's asthetically pleasing: it doesn't automatically make people shallow.

You see these types of threads every day: people aren't meeting me. Is it because I'm fat/black/asian/bi/disabled/small cocked...variations on a theme.

Op, I wouldn't meet someone with very noticable sore skin because (a) this is fantasy for me and a playmate covered in emolient wouldn't do it for me; and (b) I play rough with wax and alcohol, I'd be worried about hurting.

It's not a look at me post just a general post his skin in not flakey or infected just some redness on his arms and legs he is always clean and tidy he uses a lot of creams to keep it at bay.. just thought I will ask as I know it's something people can get upset about. And thanks for tips. Xxx

I've got it too and if I see someone looking at it or they comment I just say it's psoriasis, it's not catching but if it bothers you then I understand and leave it at that.

Dovobet,Dovonex, Metosyn,Silkis all good and keep it at bay, there is no cure it's all about management and learning to live with it.

Unfortunately there are folk in life who are uneducated about psoriasis and other skin conditions and yes at times it can be depresding but as you say its part of life and managing it is key whether it be creams or other ways is not important

I feel your pain on this one, I've had problems with psoriasis for years and its always especially bad at this time of year, seems to clear up during the summer.

Can understand that some people might be put off by it as it can be very unsightly. It's certainly depressing at times and the frustration and anxiety it causes generally makes the condition even worse.

Just got to carry on I guess and hope that there are those who can look past it. As a sufferer myself it definitely would be off-putting or an issue to any meet if one of the other party had it.

To be honest if it was a bad flair up with flakey skin then it would put me off but some redness to the skin wouldnt.

I know its not contagious but i wouldt want to be licking someone and a bit of skin land in my mouth

I've suffered with acne for years, I take regular antibiotics but still get flair ups, the last one being very bad (perhaps the worst I've had since my teens). I don't tend to meet until its cleared as it affects my self confidence.

I can understand people not liking it, I guess. But its nit something that's ever concerned me, its all just part of the human condition...

It's not something that concerns me on other people but when I get a flair up it affects me, because I know how judgemental people are. They see a bloke who's nearly 40 with zits and immediately consider him to to be a filthy slob, when, infact my personal hygiene is second to none.

That's what I meant.

I wouldn't meet someone with a bad skin complaint, just makes me a bit queasy, but i wouldnt call myself shallow either as my ex had no legs, think its just how people react to different things and their own preferences, not about shallow or not.

Sudocrem is very drying. However E45 or Diprobase cream would be much better.

However to answer the OP, then no it wouldn't affect me at all. I'd be more concerned that there was a connection or spark between us.

Oilatum cream is easy to apply and last a good day without being overly greasy etc.

I use it after shaving my napper but it's primarily for eczema and psoriasis, £10 from boots for the large 500g pump bottle or on prescription from doctor.

See, with E45, I found it to be an irritant. Dries my skin out and can also be painful on affected areas. - I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to it.

Will look up Diprobase though, thank you. x

There is some good post and if someone has there opinion its there opinion not shallow we all llike what we like but it's the looking down on someone that gets me like in one of our post my husband is one of the cleanest people I know and he can get fler ups but he is always in the bath with all the creams you can think of and as for the flakes in your mouth that's not going to happen well its not happened to me in the 14 years we have bin together and the bits that go in my mouth are not affected

i suffer from chronic dermatitis, and yes the word chronic is part of the condition title i didnt stick it in there to make it sound worse than it is lol

I can go months with it being dormant then it flares up, when it does its like little blisters mainly on my legs and hands, i would never in a million years meet anyone while it was up, mainly because it makes me really self conscious as i know it looks ugly plus i wouldnt put anyone in the possition of meeting me looking like that

Skin conditions cant be helped but that does not mean people dont mind them

Its also about how you feel, if you dont feel good you dont act or look good and meeting when ylour feeling a bit down about something to me isnt worth it
