guys going to gay/bi saunas

I'm going to a gay/bi sauna tonight. I've never need to one before. I'm both excited and nervous. Any tips for a nervous sauna newbie on what to expect or how to behave to maximize fun? (is it easy to say no to people if not interested for example?)

I used to work in a gay sauna as a towel boy. Just relax n stay confidence. U will be in towel anyway. If a guy that u don't fancy approaching u either sexually or touching your body part, just wave ur hand n say no if possible. Normally people will respect n highly unlikely to be issue. Weekend like Friday night or Sunday will be crowded n the issue with a gay sauna is older guys chasing younger twink which can be funny but depend on the confidence n flirting skill. Once u shower n start walking, take a rest a bit n sit in public area inside for a while to c around, tv or magazine n start walking n cruising (exploring) once u ready. Don't be shy n start chatting if u wanna break ice. Once u c a guy that u fancy try his reaction a bit after few flirty sign in case he's interested. Dark room n glory hole should be avoided for a first timer or u might have bad experience unless u certain on what u looking for. Not all sauna clean n providing condom or lub so always be prepare n chill out. Enjoy then. Waterloo in London is de best experience I ever had in down south.

oriental - thanks for advice. all useful and will definitely use. Not planning on going to dark room!

I went last night about 7 (place closes at 9). I thought evening would be busy. the guy on reception was very friendly and helpful. He said had been busy earlier, but that there were only 2 people inside, so better to come back on friday. So, thats what i plan to do!! will be going this evening.. will post update..

Gay sauna is like Argos catalog, minus the order serial number. U will c what u likes n dislikes, or what u want or don't want. Choose wise n make de best effort. Plus u still can say No, if u not happy after de "buy" like a return warranty lol!

Found that the styeam room was the best place really as you can see and feel th action but the steam limits the obvious eye to eye contact. If not interested keep your hands to yourself and you can just watch.

Just be confident and remember just because your in a gay sauna doesn't mean you have to do any thing you don't want to . Just enjoy

"hi anyone know of one in Barnsley?"

There used to be one but I believe it closed down some time ago

Try Plastic Ivy in Dewsbury or Steam Complex or The Basement, both in Leeds

Went to sauna last night.

had fun with one guy there, but overall bit disappointing. mainly as the place was quite quiet and very few people seemed to be actively looking to play.

Was about 6-8 people i guess. However, in steam room, sauna and video lounge the people who were there didnt seem actively looking to play. People sitting quietly, not playing with themselves and not approaching anyone.

I found one guy who was playing with himself in video lounge and sat beside him. Within a few mins we were playing and headed off to private room for some fun.

After that i spent about 45 mins in sauna, steamroom and cruising about, but didnt see any other action or get approached to play.

As it was my first time i decided to be quite passive and wait til I was approached. Maybe I'm just not familar with the etiquette of how to approach people or read signals people give?

Sounds like not a good experience then, its ok n that's what's try n error. Not all sauna is good. Like many saunas in Scotland, the best one I think steamworks in Edi coz crowded n located in de big city while the Jock in Dundee is horrible n dirty. Many factors should be counted including the location, environment, and of course people taste in choosing partner but I agreed with u so many "shy cat" who doesn't know how to approach n expects people to approach them. It's all about ur self confidence n flirting skills. If u happens to be in London, I strongly recommended PleasureDome nearby Waterloo underground shucks one if the finest n best in UK with international reputations from States. I normally take out my towel n walk naked n end up with at least 5-7 guys following me n I will spoilt with choice before heading to de dark room for fun

oriental - thanks for comments again.

I may try Steamworks in Edinburgh sometime. I'm scottish and have family near Edinburgh and get up that way a couple of times a year. Maybe see you there! BTW - hot profile and pics

I've not been put off by going to saunas in general, and and sure will try another one. But probably not go back to the one i went to in nottingham. It was very clean etc, just was quiet.

East Kilbride

If in Glasgow try men's club just off Oxford street city centre, well run clean safe, lub and condoms supplied. Has steam room jacuzzi and can be busy.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I went to one in Leicester, but it was a bit of a flop. 2 guys took issue with me being in fem mode, as they had to wear towels and I was in more than that. 1 guy was either side of 70, I'm not sure which. 1 fellow was that pleased to see me he came as soon as I touched it. The other fellow in there was that worried about not coming too quick, he kept losing his erection.

On the brightside, I came out with a years worth of condoms, which balanced out the entry fee

Most sauna's can be hit or miss depending on time and day you visit - been to one or two that were dead one day then very busy the next.

In Glasgow 2-3 and busy time usually Sunday late afternoon x

Hi I am a bi guy and went to Steamers Quay in Torquay a few weeks ago. Wow! My first time but will not be my last. Lots of fun, steam room was great, lighting was perfect, most inhibitions left in the locker! I went on a sat afternoon and was certainly busy enough with a range of ages. Very clean and great fun

Central

I think the midland's ones get overshadowed by the long running main one on the outskirts of Birmingham/Darlaston - so Derby, Leicester, Nottingham etc. are seemingly quiet in comparison.

As others say, who is there is just pot luck and the day/time makes a huge difference.

There are a few around Manchester, there's a couple in Newcastle that have good reputations, and the main West Midlands one has a Newport and Luton branch too - their Barnsley one has been closed for a good time.

First timers - go with the expectation that you can have a sauna, jacuzzi, steam room relaxation experience, watch the etiquette and any sex is a bonus. Talk to people - chatting doesn't mean that you're interested, and you'll probably pick up some tips on when to visit etc. Make a move appropriately if you like someone, and respect 'no', as you would at a swinger's club.

Interesting thread, fit-bi-guy.

I'm much the same - really keen to try, but haven't quite worked up the courage!

I'm in London so do seem to be spoilt for choice - but if any fellow Londoners have any recommendations, they'd be gratefully received. Better still if you fancied showing a newbie the ropes...

Have been to steamworks in Chicago before when I was living over there and it was fantastic. Constantly just and everyone abided by the rules and the were very few pushy people. All in all great place. Will have to try the Edinburgh one sometime soon.
