We're chatting about a potential social for local couples to meet in a vanilla setting. What types of venue work well and what would you tell them when making enquiries? Would you explain our non monogamy lifestyles or use a cover story?

We used to attend one in a pub. The organisers told them we were all contributors to an internet forum.

There was a forum social a few years ago in the upstairs of a normal pub. The local men had clearly found out there were swingers in because the downstairs was absolutely heaving with men.

The landlord was very confused why his usually quiet pub was suddenly so busy when there was just a work's do in there....

Also even more years ago there was a big social event planned in Scotland but the papers found out so it had to be cancelled. People would have been Outed and lives ruined.

I'd suggest telling the venue it's a works do and only tell people the actual venue via message (not forum posts).

I'd just make it a mundane subject, such as a book or walking group. And definitely don't publish the meeting details, outside of the agreed attendees
