Hi, just having hassle with a person threatening to share our fab account and possibly pictures with our friends and family on Instagram. We have changed our names and put our page on private but is there any other ways we can protect ourselves? Is it possible to take ourself off other members hotlist so that we are harder to find?

Sorry you're having this problem - I had years back with a lady I'd met trying to extort money from me. She was threatening sharing with neighbours/village notice board type thing although in the end she gave up and never did anything. At the time I deleted my profile, sadly losing lots of veris, and stayed off the site for a little bit.

Don't think there is anything you can do on hotlist other than blocking people before they add you - but guess too late for that. Of course hope you have reported the account in question and any relevant messages. Sadly even if banned from the site they can come back again.

We don’t know what her account is as she is probably using fake one to monitor us. She has not contacted us directly or made any demands so we don’t know what her reasoning is behind targeting us.

Has she contacted you off site?

If you don't know who she is the only way to stop her monitoring you I'd to hide the profile or delete it

How do you know she's threatening this if she hasn't contacted you directly?

Also your profile is a single M but you keep referring to we and ours?

That just occurred to me that this could be about another shared profile not the one op is talking on.

Thanks glowupdoll but I’m not able to pm you but you can message me.

Yes this is in relation to another profile. She has not made any contact with us on this site or any other means but just comments made on our social media pages

It’s harassment - go to the police. No body should be threatened because of being on here and if you know who they are then I am sure the police would like an “easy win”.

Take screenshots and report to the police now, before she does it. Then report every instance to the site they’re on.

It comes under the revenge porn law and malicious communication, so yes, the police will take action.

Delete your instagram.

It's doubtful that he knows who your friends are, and a hassle trying to find them from a now deleted account. Unless you think he was smart enough to screenshot your friends list (highly unlikely)?

Do ensure that after deleting your account you do specifically tell him to fuck off and that you don't care. You'll feel better for it.

Take it straight to the police, show them the threat messages and let them take it from there. The person making the threats will get a visit extremely quickly.

Hey

I'm sorry to hear that you are having this issue..it is really out of order.

For now not ideal I'd lock down on your account as much as you can so ...

Set all XXX photos to private .

Check your account settings and limit your audience available to you so maybe reduce age range , gender, sexuality etc so you can't come up in their search even if new or nultiple accounts.

I know it will affect your fab experience but might be worth it until they get bored.

I'd contact admin and ask them to monitor your account , who's taking regular looks at it maybe they can see more from their side .

I hope it calms down soon x

Interesting you assume it’s a he. OP has already said it’s a she.

It sounds like a person has made a profile on Fab and set the profile to Female and then sent messages via that. They evidently know about the feature that allows blocking all single male profiles.

There is no way for anyone to know for sure what sex the person is if they message randomly like that. However, obsessive stalker behaviour usually indicates sad lonely man syndrome in most cases. The chance of it being a woman doing this is so remote we're prepared to roll those dice and suggest its a 'he'.

Seriously, just tell him to fuck off. Even if he does leak so what? They could be deep-fakes, or he could be some kind of scammer (which he sounds like).

Do you think folk really care that much about other peoples sex lives? They don't. Scum like this guy prey on people's fears, don't fall for it. Just tell him to fuck off and ignore him.

It’s taken around 9 months for me to finally shake off an obsessive stalker from here, who is the second woman to do this to me. Why assume it’s a bloke in disguise?

As for the OP reporting the profile in here, let me tell you what will happen; the site will block each of you from being able to view the other’s profile. That’s all.

Hide your profile and stay out of Fab for a while OP. Come back when the dust has settled

Some rather big assumptions and if you think it just men who do stuff like this then you are very wrong. I've had a lady make similar sort of threats and try to extort money. She was definitely a lady as I met and had fun with her! I know of many others including a lady who was outed on Facebook by another lady she knew. Men do this shit too of course but no basis for assuming man in this case. OP also seems to have seen social media posts but this person which suggests bit more than a fake Fab profile. As for the general advice of ignore yes to some extent and I did that BUT not so easy to ignore when you get constant messages from different numbers for example. Also in some cases it not just a threat - people do follow through and do things sometimes.
