How do you know you want to host one if you don’t know how they go?

Don't do it ....

Think of the clean up afterwards as well as all the crap on vetting ppl cos you really don't want strangers in your home!

Host at a hotel first, start with Dayuse, maybe an overnight another time, house when you are confident with coralling people, cleanup and solid rules.

The headline of your profile is ‘Daring to explore’…daring to explore as long as it doesn’t make a mess or involve taking a risk?

Find a house party style club/event and see how things go. At least you know there is some level of vetting and security, and there is no question that other will be willing to play if things vibe the right way.

Something we've not done yet is attend a naughty house party. Not yet been invited to one.

Perhaps the best idea would be to rent a nice sized place on Airbnb. It would definitely mean though having to take a small fee to cover all costs.

Does seem like a great idea but potentially alot of stress too lol.

Airbnb hosts do not like parties, and you need to declare how many people will be sleeping and you can get in a lot of trouble if the hosts suspect something is off. If you know the couples attending and you trust them all then it's fine. Hosting a party there with strangers may end up badly.

I get what you mean, but worst case scenario is they ask you to leave or pay for any damages, which goes without saying.

Realistically, most won't have a clue what's going until its over.

I think it depends on how big is the party. House party covers everything from perhaps 8 to 80.

I would suggest anybody thinking of house party to actually go to one or two first before having their own. The term really covers such a wide range with very different dynamics. Failing that start small.

We have rented four different properties for one night to meet couples, only for parties of two or 3 couples. Hosts are often in the house next door or in the same village. They have never bothered us but we have felt them around. Too many cars, loud music, they will knock because they don't want to upset the neighbours. You can get away with it in properties that are isolated from neighbours and there's plenty of parking, with 3/4 rooms and you declare enough people to cover all rooms. Then the hosts will relax. If you rent a 3-4 bedroom place and declare only 2 people, the host will check you are not trying to get more people than declared. Also if there's more people they are entitled to charge for full occupancy, so it's not just a question of kicking you out, and I would not like a party when our guests have to leave annoyed middle of the party. That's what I mean trouble.

Totally agree with all that. Also if you rent a bigger place for more people, not only are they few and far between but the costs start to get prohibitive very quickly not to mention the financial outlay upfront and size of deposit risk,
