If you’re exchanging face pics how much trust do you put that the pics you see will be the person you meet ?

We now don’t exchange pics due to a photo stealing incident but have felt that pics can be easily old, photoshopped or even of a completely different person.

It is always a worry but we figure if we turn up and they don’t look like their pic, or they’re considerably older than the pics they sent, we just say we’re sorry but we’re not interested and leave after a drink or two.

Confidence in the sincerity of a stranger from online is the sum of a few different factors such as the profile, verifications and the conversation. If everything checks out then chances we have more confidence in the photo being real. Especially when it's clear someone has a sound track record on the scene.

I put 50% of my trust in photos. Oddly the better the photo the less I trust it on the grounds that if it's really awful someone wouldn't have bothered to pinch it.

We tend to look at their overall profile, recent verifications etc. You can tell which folk are genuine and our instincts haven't failed us thus far.

One thing we've noticed is people messaging with a pic tend to be more genuine than the ones who don't. When it comes to older pics, we tend to look at the pics on their profile and their age now.

But they would still get a meet, no matter what the outcome.

I am not overly bothered with the photos nowadays (as way too many people use various filters). It's more personality that I can get through conversations on here as well as my gut instinct. If it tells me something's off, even if I can't put my finger on it, I do trust it entirely.

In my younger days, however, before I learned to trust my instincts, I had some instances when the person looked nothing like their photos. One I remember the most vividly is when I was dating- agreed to meet a guy, saw his photos before. Went to the pub we agreed to meet at, could not see the guy from the photo but saw a guy waving at me. It turned out it was the guy I agreed to meet, just at least 5 stone heavier and 10 years older than the one from the photos... Needless to say, the "date" only lasted as long as it was considered polite, and did not get a follow up.

Get them to pose for a new face pic holding a copy of today's newspaper in a 'Proof of Life' (a 2000 movie starring Russell Crowe and Meg Ryan) style photo.

Could still be photoshopped of course by anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of editing software, but less likely.

Or. Video call them.

Or meet somewhere for a coffee/pina colada.

Putting 100% faith in a photo is akin to buying something off Wish and then discovering it's much smaller or made of plastic instead of carbon fibre, and believing that your Big Mac at Maccies will look like the one on the photo over the counter instead of something that's been run over by an antique steamroller before being yeeted the length of a football pitch in its box before several elephants kick it around for an hour.

When I was meeting more years ago,most people looked like the pics I'd seen to be fair.

I always meet socially first though ,I did have one man who had claimed to be late 30s.When he turned up it was more like in his 50s,so the social went no further.

I hate being deceived.

I never get the profiles that only have pics on from 10 years plus too,we've all changed in that time.

If in any doubt ,you could ask to facetime with them.

That’s exactly what happened to us. We met someone whose photo was obviously taken 4 stone and 15 years ago. You can present anything in a photo.

We trust verifications from other trusted people on the site and just meet blind. That’s because we had our pics copied and used on another profile plus we’ve had single guys send us naked, with face, pics of their fwb. We’re sure without their permission. We just now don’t trust people won’t copy and distribute photos.

A social might waste an hour or two without face pics but you’re unlikely to have your pics distributed without permission. And with the right verified people it’s pretty safe.

I need photos and their other information in order to make some kind of assessment. Those with none are a black hole that I don't get sucked into

But having met someone who must have been the great, great, great grandfather and incorrectly certified deceased, who came to the meet instead, I don't blindly put 100% trust into pics.

Yes, this is how it is for us. We’ve always assumed the photos we received were of the person we were talking to, and we’ve never had a meet where they weren’t exactly as their photos showed them to be.

photo's cannot be trusted and once online you loose control of them, they can be borrowed and used by anyone, i am a professional photographer by trade and i know how to alter change manipulate images, so no would i trust an on line image ERR no. better to have a telephone chat with a person first then maybe an on line video link test the water a bit further, its down to the individual to make the call, you can also gain an insight simply by reading their written content

I tend to treat them as a bit of a guideline as I'm usually much more attracted to personalities anyway

I do trust people couples totally but I have met socially sone who did not look like the photos one couple were much better in fact

I had a couple who I met a few times and I never saw them

Never got a photo, and when I went to their house I had to put a blind find on and then strip in the hall and the guy collected me and the fun began

Heavily filtered photos are a big red flag for me.

If I’m chatting to someone of my age group I expect them to have wrinkles and laughter lines. I’d prefer they didn’t blur them out.

Same as when TV’s “feminise” their facial features with filters.

I want to see a real pic of the person I’m going to meet.

We always ask for a 'now' picture if we are chatting with a couple, arranging a meet and they say they are both sat together, we will send an unfiltered one back of us sat together at the same time. It also helps filter the ones where one is arranging a meet and the other doesn't have a clue.

Oh, I am so naive. I did not think photo deception was a thing…doesn’t make sense because first thing you see on meeting is their face.

The verification thing is interesting. I got verified by the site but not by any people yet. I’m just back after a break (actually, I never really got started previously) and am looking for my first adventure in swinging. I guess a verification is important,right?

People with filtered photos - we feel like they’re being dishonest from the start as they won’t even show you the real them. It’s ok to have one or two ‘fun’ filtered pics but when they’re all filtered we can’t tell what they actually look like as some people are unrecognisable. Anyone that sends us a message with filtered photos are instantly deleted. Don’t lie to us about what you look like

Lastly all of our photos are 100% unfiltered and yes we do have face pics (also 100% unfiltered) so we expect the same in return

Perhaps because you have a private life, a responsible job and someone has copied and distributed your photos before so it has made you very careful. Also you might have seen evidence that some people have shared face pics of people with swinging friends. We’ve had single guys share pics of fwbs and pretty sure the fwbs don’t know.

We were chatting to a guy who was over 50, and thought was quite good looking, so invites him for a social and when he turned up he was in his late 70s and had used a photo of when he was around that age...there was no way we were going to even entertain the idea of a play meet...its just such a bizzare thing to do as they will always be found out!

Have you seen photos where people can have dog ears and tongues?…. well they’re filtered photos but you can have all sorts of filters and people can literally use filters to smooth out their face, add makeup, change the shape of their face etc. I suppose it’s modern day photo editing
