OK ladies, it's getting to that stage in life, iv tested positive twice for it and monthlys are no longer monthlys and a bit all over the place, it's not happned yet but I want to be prepared for when or if it happens, anyone that's been through it or is still going through it and have sadly lost all sex drive, have you found anything that helps kick start it or even just a helps a little bit.

Obv if your happy to share this info in the forums or if not feel free to pop I to our inbox.

Second vote for some HRT. Patches etc made a massive difference. Brain fog, lack of sex drive, hot flushes and anger all sorted out within a couple of weeks.

Hubby’s very happy too! No low flying saucepans

Hey, I can vouch that it’s a pretty crazy time. Read stuff from Dr Louise Newson (The menopause Doctor). Everyone is so different but HRT defo helps. Also for loss of libido, testosterone replacement can be requested if you feel it’s needed. Talk to your Dr. It’s a lot more of an open subject these days.

"I’ve tried HRT patches now I’m on a hormone gel"

Why did you change from patch to gel? I started patches in December and they have sorted the night sweats and mood swings (ish!) but haven't done anything for lack of libido... So wondering if gel is better

It took till the beginning of last year to finally get told I was peri menopausal. After years of being at the drs with various stupid things.

I've been on hrt for a year.

I took a few weeks to think about it.

The dr who finally diagnosed me was annoyed I hadn't been diagnosed sooner as they are all the things I'd been to the drs with

Definitely get on HRT as soon as you can.

Sadly, due to other issues that needed sorting first, I didn't go on HRT until after my periods stopped.

It might take a little while to find what type works for you, but it is so worthwhile.

You can start hrt way before your periods finish - it's from perimenopause onwards.

If your libido doesn't pick up your GP can refer you to a menopause clinic and they can prescribe testosterone as well - just a tiny dab works wonders

I’ve had a rough year with a very happy ending. At no point did my sex drive take a dip, it did the opposite which lead me to think it wasn’t a menopausal thing. I felt crazy, hyper emotional, hubby could do no right despite his best efforts. It almost ended us and I started hrt as an act of desperation. The difference it made was insane. Do not underestimate how crazy unmedicated menopause can make you feel. And it’s so different for everyone x the more we talk about it, the less people suffer in silence xx

Do not wait to start HRT. I am a menopause advocate at work and a health care professional. HRT offers protection for your heart and protects against dementia. Get to your GP and chat it through.

Wish I’d tried hrr sooner, didn’t realise how much of ‘myself’ I was missing until I started on patches and then I was horny most of the time, nearly 12 months later and I’m still horny although have changed to gel as can’t quite get my hormones balanced and I’m ratty and emotional a lot but it turns out I was intolerant to progesterone! Don’t be afraid to keep going back to docs if you don’t feel ok x

Wow ladies, thankyou do much for all your advice and sharing your story's, I defiantly don't feel like myself, as another lady said my anxiety is through the roof, so many things are happening to be that iv never suffered from before. I love a good soft massage, no deep tissue stuff, love any part of my skin being rubbed but recently iv found that it becomes so sensitive that it starts to hurt, a bit like how your skin would feel of you had the flu.., and so iv not been enjoying it like I did, I'm aware this might not be a perimenapause issue but ita defiantly a new thing, also my digestive system is seriously playing up and again something iv never suffered from..and now I'm not complaining about this..because its all Iv ever wanted but I'm loosing weight rapidly...and concerning as to why so fast..iv been to the doctor about that issue and was basically told not to worry, when I put all these things together I start to worry that something serious is wrong but yet it could just be PM that's causing it but trying to get near a doctor up here is ridiculous, and when you do they never take anything seriously.

I'm really eased at the outcome of this post, and some really helpful comments, I'm glad I made it. How do you know what HRT is right for you? Apart from the lady's on here with their positive experiences with it all iv heard is horror story's, also I have absoloutly no faith in my GP surgery, I have been to them a few times about various things unrelated to PM/M and was told referrals were done, my name was put on lists etc, turns out none of that was done, so tbh I'm just at the point now with them that I have lost all faith, but I know I need to get this organised!

I've also been HRT free during my perimenopause and menopause. I've had hot sweats and grumpyness (starflower oil is good for this), but never needed HRT.

Hubby says my sex drive has increased since my menopause started. It seems that no two women are the same when it comes to symptoms

Wherever

I chose to go medications free, I believe menopause is a natural process and should not be suppressed. Our bodies know what to do, it’s our minds that need an extra boost. I feel grateful to be able to experience this stage of my life as many women couldn’t, including my best friend who died unexpectedly of cancer at the age of 48.

My symptoms are night sweats, brain fog and general fatigue but it’s not that bad. I do intermittent fasting and low carbs diet, lots of exercise, meditation and breath work. My libido is fluctuating but overall higher than before.

Good luck in whatever route you decide to take xx

I did recieve your private message although unsure what your motive was seeing your a man who commented on a "female only post"

I made this post to gain peoples experiences, opinions, when and what age they went on HRT if they did at all. I didn't ask should I or shouldn't I go to my gp about it which is what you suggested which really I suppose is quite an obvious idea. But again I wanted to hear from other women. Not my gp.

Tonypandy.

Been on mirena coil for 15 years. Started suffering terrible depression, mood swings, brain fog, night sweats etc about 2 years ago, aged 47.

GP wasn't prepared to address the issue until I was 50. Found another GP who prescribed HRT patches, as well as some mood stabilizers.

Most of the symptoms have been elevated, except the brain fog. Libedo went through roof.

There's a menopause clinic in Inverness I saw something on social media about- I am planning a trip there since my own GP is fobbing me off with "being too young for menopause", despite the fact that early menopause is a thing in women in my mum's side of the family. Maybe look her up and get an appointment to see if you can get some specialist advise - particularly in relation to getting access to testosterone to help with low libido. Good luck!

There is a new amino acid treatment In the us called PT 141 that is working wonders. Helps both men and women with low libido, sexual disfunction and even ed. It's not lisenced in the UK yet but is available online and is very easy to use. You can even get it on Amazon lol. From experience we can tell you it really really works. We were both like teenagers again.
