I have been to a few socials and events.

I’m still relatively inexperienced in the scene although sat on side watching many years

As a single guy not yet invested in joining a club as I often work weekends so may not get to use the facilities as much as I hoped.

At some events I have felt confident and chatted. Others my anxiety kicks in. (Especially around that people I’m attracted to either physically socially or mentally)

Any tips / etiquette advice please?

I am not expecting play ever. But some more conversation and friends would be nice.

I live alone and work from home. My social skills are suffering. I used to have not issues

If only I had started a conversation…or even just said hello…

It can be difficult can't it.

Would it be useful to plan a couple of opening lines.

"Hi, I'm Cammo. This is a nice pub/club/coffee shop. Have you come far?"

Often people respond well to a

"Hi, I'm new to all this, have you been before?"

A lot of people struggle to initiate a conversation, some might welcome an approach

"Good tips. Thanks "

Before we met a girlfriend of our son's who was quite a bit younger than him I googled sine stuff so that I could find some common ground between us. She was 45 years younger than me so I really had no idea. . Turns out I needn't have worried once the ice was broken we chatted non stop.
