Condoms….

Ok. Here’s a thing. I used to use condoms with my ex wife, and now whenever I put one on I lose even the firmest erection. I think it’s because they remind me of her. It’s severely limiting meets because a few times now all has been going wonderfully until the moment the condom goes on. We end up not having penetrative sex because of it - of course, there are plenty of other ways to pleasure, but it is an issue.

Has anyone else had this problem and what have you done about it?

Thank you all! Xx

You need to retrain your mind to see the condom as your ‘gateway to pleasure’ Just have a condom open, and ready to use just before you go for penetration, so there’s no break in your concentration/horn and just go for it! I found the longer it takes to get ‘dressed’, the quicker I lost my erection, and then Mr Softie came out to play.

Also make sure you have condoms that fit your penis comfortably. They aren’t all the same shape or size, just as cocks aren’t! Too small a condom constricts you, so again, can ruin your experience. Try different makes when wanking, work out which are best for you. All the best mate

Did you use a particular brand with her? Maybe change over to something different, practice putting one on while watching porn or anything that helps to break that mental link you have.

Good luck.

Size is also important.

Before my experience with other cocks, I though I was average and bought normal condoms.

Even though I'm barely above average I've found that Pasante King size (available from FreeDoms) doesn't give me that 'elastic band around your dick' feeling and that made a whole load of difference.

In our experience it's far from unusual for over 50s guys, so I wouldn't feel bad about it.

You can talk to your GP about a little chemical backup - you may not feel that you need it, but it may help you to get over the psychological hurdle.

Secondly, don't ever have sex without a condom, or the connection between condoms and failure is going to be even clearer in your sub-conscious.

That’s useful advice. Not keen on chemical back up - but I’ll try the other persons advice and go for a bigger size.

"Not keen on chemical back up"

Having talked to various people, I get the impression that that's more of a concern for single guys than it is for guys who are part of a couple. I'll let you draw your own conclusions!

Have you tried Rome condoms? I completely understand the issue you're having but these feel quite different from latex ones. Just a thought.

Just chiming in to say hanx are another good alternative brand that may give you the "different experience" that you need to unlearn the association...

Best of luck OP

Totally agree with this but try also wearing them when you masterbate so you feel more comfortable with them on

Go to a site like mysize and measure your knob (without lying ) - makes so much difference and never have issues again

Almost makes it enjoyable. Only problem is lack of non latex ones.

So … an addendum to this thread; met a lovely lady in Dublin the other night. Long story short - no problem with condoms! Cured! xx

I was going soft in every shop bought condom I tried.

I did a bit of googling and worked out that I might be wearing the wrong size.

So I bought some 60mm diameter condoms and what a difference.

The shop ones are not much smaller but it didn't feels like it was to tight in it and they also don't roll off the end and I can feel more when I have them on.

That’s great news. Sometimes it’s about breaking that psychological block or even just the right company. Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been told I’ve had a positive effect on a guy.

Being more relaxed helps as well. Maybe you need to go to Dublin more often.
