Why is it, that you have a sensible conversation with a couple after maybe winking each other, but then there isn't necessarily a mutual attraction when you share face pics.

You politely say you arn't for them and thank them and then they just go and block you! Not sure why you'd do that? Everything is polite etc, but what does blocking achieve?

Just find it a bit odd - hey ho!

This is asked regularly, often by single guys that have been blocked.

It's the same reason, I imagine.

If there's no interest one way, it's not going to go anywhere and so blocking prevents future repeats.

By blocking , it just means they don't accidently contact you in a few months, if you've changed your profile picture or they've forgotten that you'd already chatted.

It just makes life easier all round. I block people regularly for this reason.

We rarely block, though we do use the private note section a lot.

I use block if I’m not attracted to someone, or if they’re not attracted to me. It means you won’t waste time looking at each other’s profiles, or messaging in the future.

This site is frustrating enough without being turned on then turned down a second time

It helps filter out so you don't end up receiving unwanted messages even though the note options available just block back you'll feel better

100%, we often block people if there is no attraction saves them coming back around in a year or two. Problem is when they pop up with a new account!!

Blocking isn't an insult. It's people using the tools of the site to ensure that the profiles they aren't going to meet don't show in their searches.

You don't want to meet them, they've acknowledged that.

In those situations view blocking as being added to a "I'm not going to hassle this user again" list. It's the most effective way to ensure you don't accidentally message the same people months or years down the line.

I'd see blocking used to remove you from the updates feed.

No one wants to see proliles and status from someone that doesn't find them attractive.

I guess people just don't like rejection.

Blocking isn't a bad thing ,it lets you rule out those you're not interested in and isn't personal.

Its not really odd .We use block as a extra filter as you can forget months down the line you’ve chatted and swapped pictures and for whatever reason theirs no attraction.

We wouldn’t want anyone to think we don’t take no for a answer when the probability is we’ve forgotten we’ve already had a conversation and swapped pictures..

Blocking stops them messaging again, your not for them so why would it matter, we block for far lesser reasons.

Bit odd that you would still want to look at their profile, if you don't fancy them, no? It's not a personal slight. You will no longer appear on their searches etc...

I block every profile I'm not a match for, it's just sorting the wheat from the chaff...
