Going bare

So, been on the scene quite a few years now and she wants to go bare. But we are doing it as sensibly as we can, we get tested regularly anyways, but so long as potential partners can prove they are tested and clean, we will be happy to play bare.

Any other pitfalls other fabbers can point us to?

Messy End

I’m currently seeking help with a bare scenario, so in my experience during my search, be careful of:

Bareback police- how dare you be open about what you seek!!

Time wasters

Keyboard jockeys

Time wasters

In all seriousness, I admire your openness, and wish you have more joy than me, although I’ve not given up yet.

The only pitfall I can see is that people will lie about their testing status of that they haven't had sex since their last test.

As a community we need to descandalise those who choose to play bare.

If you are happy with your own risk /benefit assessment and all consent to bare play, crack on.

If you don't like the thought, rather than declare how you feel and virtie signal how clean you are, give it an ignoring.

The wise ones will watch who approves / disapproves and select accordingly.

The most dangerois folk are those who shout "I NEVER PLAY BAREBACK" but do all the time.

If we were all honest about it without shaming, we'd all be able to make imformed decisions.

The biggest pitfall I'd see is that people won't be honest.

you're only STI free at the time of that test, unless you haven't had sex again since .

Thanks for the pointers. Yes we will only be happy if someone's test results are very recent, and typically we would only go bare with couples, who would be more honest.

You can also obtain and take PrEP, quite a popular thing when going bare...

Just a little reminder, Prep is for Aids related protection only (not for the usual STD's) and remember you can still get STD's from oral fun as well, it's not totally a penetration thing. I love BB and in 20+ years I've only been caught out once, so it's up to you of course....but mmm those creampies are so gorgeous aren't they?

I am aware of that, and everyone is at risk

If your view is that couples are more honest then you're in for a shock, if you think that single guys and gals lie and couples don't then all the best to you.

No problems with people preferring bb. Love it myself but never outside of a comitted relationship. Even though ive met some truely lovely people while swinging its not for me an environment where it is sensible to try. Each to there own however

Really not worth the risk as there are plenty on here that would happily lie about being checked.

Most clinics offer a link to your results, which you can share with potential partners. Typically give the date of test, what was tested for and results.

Even then you are only sti free if you didn't have sex for the x weeks before the test to get past the incubation period.

N Peterborough.

I think both parties having recent clear tests and sticking to couples helps to manage the risks.

We prefer bb and are okay with running the risks. Ymmv.

"The only pitfall I can see is that people will lie about their testing status of that they haven't had sex since their last test."

Very much this.

You can lie/fake the texts/reaults you get.

You can get tested too soon so some STI’s will not show up

If they fuck between getting teated and meeting you they may pick something up.

People will lie to fuck you.

Understand that and then take your own risk mitigation.

Unfortunately not everyone is honest.

I get STI results but they don’t have my name on them, it’s done by number and barcode so how can I prove it to anyone.

As said above there are other things such as Herpes, which is incurable and painful although treatable.

I just wouldn’t risk it for myself but if I picked something up and passed it on, I’d feel terrible.

We have been swinging for about 8 years and have always played bare. We do not meet loads of people as we want to minimise any risk as much as we can. Bare is always a bit of a risk but feels so much better

It's really not hard to get a test. The postal ones are handy and less "embarrassing"

But bare is definitely better

I haven’t had sex in an awful long time but, building the trust for someone to believe that would seem rather problematic.

I would think the safest bet is to use condoms and that way you have little risk of contracting of STI’s.

Unless you are absolutely sure that you can trust men!

According to the sexual health clinic (I had to fo in and ask haha) the only real safe way to ensure bareback is safe is the following:

1. Get tested asap.

2. Get tested again in 3 months as it takes this long for HIV to show in your blood.

3. Do not have sex or any sexual contact during this time.

4. Can use Prep but they are reluctant to give this out as it is not 100% guaranteed and you can catch other STI.

They also said that they are seeing a rise in oral STI and some are from "facials" where it gets in the eyes. I thought it bizarre but they are seeing a growing rise of cases.

You can still catch herpes while using a condom and if you're someone that uses a condom for sex but not oral, are you really mitigating risk by that much?

You don't even need to be doing anything sexual to catch herpes, there are non sexual conditions where it can be transmitted.

We can all agree there is no 100% way to prevent catching something.

However, I'd like to assume (bold I know) that swingers and sex workers alike are somewhat more concerned with their sexual health and as a whole, get tested more often than vanilla members of the public.

Another sweeping generalisation I have is that the average person that sleeps around on a weekend with randoms is more likely to be carrying something than someone actively involved in the swinging scene, there will of course be exceptions.

Just don't go bare unless its someone you know 100% clean , seriously not worth the risk going bare with someone even if tested clean a week before and couod have had sex and caught something since
