Advice on rope play

Hey just wondering does anyone have any advice for a very beginner on some rope play or know were to look on the internet DM me if there's any links thanks in advance

You could try typing ‘role play ideas’ into Google or you could search ‘role play’ in one of the many porn sites on the internet. Hope this helps.

So are you saying you’re interested in role play but you don’t know what type of role play you’re interested in?

There are various resources you can find and use through platforms like you tube and tic tok etc.

"Shibari tutorials"

There are also webpages from experts like the knotty boys or duchy.

Midori has various books on the subject.

There will also be local groups or Peer workshops that will have basic 101 sessions. These can be found through sites like FET.

The key is to practice practice practice and always always have safety shears close to hand.

A tie in the wrong place or to tight or self tightens can create severe nerve and muscle damage very very quickly.

Safety is paramount.

I would thoroughly recommend going to a rope workshop with a respected rigger. Have a look on a well known fet site for one near you or ask at a local munch. There’s nothing like having one to one tuition. As has been said if you get it wrong it can be very wrong.

First question I have is why do you want to do it?

Because you like how it looks, you just want to learn a few ties, or you enjoy that aspect of restriction and bondage?

There is a true art form behind it, and so to outsiders and novices it can be intimidating.

Books and youtube are great, but nothing beats workshops and peer groups to learn some of the basics and safety.

But again, ask yourself why you want to learn it. Be honest, as it will help your learning path.

The chap behind bondage tuition on youtube is one of the big names in rope education in the uk at the moment. There are things you cannot learn at home, though, you need teachers and critics to get good - and experience helps a lot too. I second the suggestion of finding community.

I've always liked how it looked an I alway am wanting to learn I only want to know the basics for now see if I actually like doing it thanks for the advice

If you are going to put rope on yourself or someone else, safety is a must.

Purchase some safety shears so you can get out of the rope quickly should any emergency arise. Cutting rope is always preferable to a dead or seriously injured partner.

Learn about different types of rope and their properties, especially if suspension is your eventual goal. Not all rope is equal.

As mentioned before, look on fetish sites for local peer workshop groups.

Follow safety protocols advised (like having safety sheets)

Use the t'interweb- it's amazing! Look up shibari study or just sooooooo many on YouTube

Most have a sections on safety and choice or rope.

Two of those books were written by the Knotty Boys,. One is "Showing You The Ropes". The books are not my thing but people like them and are worth checkling if you like pretty rope. Unfortunately YouTube has removed most of their videos.

Although I am into Japanese style rope, rope is about fun and can be about sexy times. To that end I like Chantra Rose's "Bondage for Sex. You can find her in action online on porn sites in her domination of women videos "Chanta's Bitches"( not for the fainthearted).

Other books I would mention are:

Lee Harrington's "Shibari You Can Use"

Midori's "The Seductive Art Japanese Bondage"

Lord Morpheus' "Bondage Basics'

Pete Riggs *Rope Bondage The Smart Way"

If history is your thing the podcast and associated material of the Kinbakunomicon by Faviola is excellent. As is the "The Beauty of Kinbaku" by Master K.

There is a documentary based in London starting at the Flying Dutchman (another site lost to us) filmed 2010 to 2014 by Bob Bentley (although now dated the scene has changes hugely) " The Pleasure of Rope' clips on YouTube.

For a different take on the history of shibari you can search for Midori's online commentary "

The History & Myths of Japanese Bondage"

Unfortunately due to the fact we now live in religious centric reactionary world (I don't normally mix rope and pokitics) that controls the financial system. Websites perceived to be promoting sex are not provided banking facilities or have them taking way. There used to be an excellent site with how to tie videos from famous Japanese riggers that had to close down last year because it had banking facilities withdrawn.

Please support providers and also teachers of kink, especially rope.
