To ask to have a phone call or video call before a meet. Your safety is paramount! Sounds simple, but there’s plenty of profiles I’ve seen which raise alarm bells. Be vigilant

But if that concerned would it be sensible to give out the number. Why not just meet in a public place where their are plenty of people

Somewhere in Co. Down

I have only done a video call once on here before I met someone. And it was one of the worst meets I ever had on here. So it's doesn't guarantee anything as far as I'm concerned.

I despise video calling and I won't do that or a phone call before I meet anyone off here.So far it's never been an issue with anyone else I have met on here. People are fully within the rights to ask for one and I have every right to say no thanks. If they don't like it they can move on.

So if you’ve had a video call with someone and it felt ok would you then get in the back of their van the next day?

Kinda fails this basic litmus test doesn’t it?

If someone asked for my phone number on here that would ring alarm bells.

Safety is cool and all that but it's also so dam practical. It's hard to get a true vibe or sense of chemistry over text. Hearing or hearing and seeing gives you a lot better sense. It can either save you the time, effort and expense of meeting someone you won't fancy in real life or help build the excitement of meeting them prior.

Not sure a call or video can prove a person is safe but I agree it's helpful in deciding on attraction/their photos are genuine/whether you get along in conversation. I'd not meet anyone unwilling to talk on phone first, I have good reason and anyone not willing, that's absolutely fine but there would be no meeting. You don't have to exchange numbers either, there are apps that allow you to talk/video call.

I don't give my number out to randoms.

If I'm unsure then I ask to call on Snapchat or telegram

I always now have a Skyp* chat before I even meet in a public place for a social. After meeting someone 20yrs older and 10 stone heavier, wearing a wedding ring when he'd said he was single different than their profile

About 3 feet away from the fence

I'm not sure a video call really helps from a safety point of view, it only helps to confirm that the person matches the pics in his/her profile.

Completely agree with this. Or meet somewhere for a drink. When we meet men I will leave Arya back at the hotel and go for a drink with them and sus things out.
