So I’ve just noticed that some pictures I’ve taken have appeared on the profile of someone we have met up with.

So a two part question.

One. How have they managed this?

Two. How do I prevent it happening again?

Bit disturbing if I’m honest!

Had you uploaded these to your fab profile, where they could be saved and uploaded as theirs?

In terms of preventing it, you can either tell them to remove the pics and not do it again in future. There is also the option to report them and get admin involved

Did you give them a copy? If not they may have taken a copy via screenshot? One way to avoid is write your profile name on the photos so no one else can use them

Or just ask them

Shit, that's a bit creepy and wrong, I think the discussion should have been had before the meet and as you were obviously discussing the photos and use of them, it would have been the chance to agree on them either staying totally private and not on Fab, only for you to use on Fab or certain ones to be shared with permission. I have only ever posted one from a meet and the couple sent me it and gave permission. I think admin is your best bet.

I think they are screen shots from videos that I posted of the meet.

This is just a thought and I'm playing devils advocate here, did you tell him you were going to post the video of the meet and have his permission? Also not sure on legalities as it's in the public domain and he does feature in the content, maybe a lesson learned, it's difficult to know how far to trust and how much discretion and respect is involved.

If they had asked I would have endeavoured to send them some that I had editing to my requirements.

Q1 Easy. Copy and paste

Q2

Put a notice on your profile (copy mine- which I copied from elsewhere)

Ask them to take your photos off

Report them to admins

Tick the box which removes your photos after viewing

Be more careful with whom you meet

Hope this helps!

I'm assuming they gave permission for you to post videos with them in?

If you feel you could, message them about it & offer to send what you'd be happy being shared. If not then you can report to admin.

Just a bit disappointed really if I’m honest.

I obscured them as requested but they haven’t reciprocated.

And we were planning on meeting again next week!!

You do realise that the legal claptrap on your profile is meaningless, right?

How would you plan to enforce the American laws you refer to in your disclaimer?

Even if it was a UK law, can't see it being enforced without significant exposure.

Of you uploaded them to fab them most likely screen shots and edited..you could mark your pics in future..that might deter people.

If you are planning to meet them again you are obviously still in communication with them so you could ask them to obscure your face in the video shots

I would ignore this. It doesn't achieve anything and just clogs up fab.

Photos are easily lifted from this site

You can apparently watermark your photos but when I've tried they've been rejected but plenty of others do it, so it must be possible

Id report the photos unless they were in the photos them, then I think it's only fair if your sharing them, why should they

I think taking a screen shot of a video they are in is different from stealing someone else's pic

We've had our pics shared before without our consent and had to report it. Matter dealt with by admin, but not satisfactorily i'm afraid. Lesson learnt for us, we now watermark most pics and keep some hidden. Only share the more sensitive ones with friends.

But in your case I feel alittle conflicted. Forgive me if I have misunderstood this Op, but from what I've read is that you have publicly posted videos of a guy and your Mrs albeit edited alittle.

And now your upset that the guy featuring in his and your video is now sharing a few screenshots from it? Whats the fuss? The video was edited by you so the screenshots only show what you already feel comfortable with sharing...

And as others have pointed out, did you ask him if he consented to his videos being shared? If not then you need to take them down if he's not happy with that. Regardless of the editing you have done you legally need his consent to share them.

It doesn't make it right but I see so many people on here ignorant to that fact.

Just my two pennies worth whilst trying to fall asleep

Sadly there is no way to stop people from copying your pics. Report the profile using your pics as they have no right to do that without your permission.

near you

This very same thing happened to me a couple of years ago

Someone used my picture on their account I only found out as I was contacted by someone who was abusive towards me and after trying to tell them it then transpired that my pictures were on another account and to my knowledge they are still out there being used so apologies to anyone who has encountered this horrid person

people saying nothing can be done are wrong when it come to pictures of a sexual nature where no consent has been given it all come under the revenge porn laws that came out a few years ago ... the fact they've not hidden your faces makes it wrong even if they were in the pic .. admin are normally very good at dealing with this so try that first

simple software can erase names off photos these days or even just cropping them. A chap I met and sucked off took my face pic while I was in the act. An hour later the photo was on his profile. He didn't ask my permission to take my photo or to publish it. I asked him to remove it. He didn't bother reply so I reported him and admin dealt with him

Yep, spot on about the revenge porn laws.

But when it comes to Admin, please don't have high expectations.

We had a guy using about 5 of our photos as his own. Despite us never having met! He was a subscribing member with verifications and was no doubt upto no good in other ways like giving fake veris etc.

All Admin made him do was remove our pics.

The fact he's broke the law should have resulted in a ban and ip ban.

But profit comes before anything else on this site. Hence why I believe the owners never invest in modernising this site.

Thank you, that was actually very helpful. Also since I’ve revised my rules and posted a message saying no screenshots he is ghosting me.

So yeah admin may be the way to go.

Thank you again.
