Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that! There is no rules really except you have to follow your heart

If you get any kind of reply it'll most likely be from the husband taking the piss.

Send them a friendly message saying why you are getting in touch is all you need to do. If they like the look of you that will be enough to start a conversation, if they don’t it really won’t matter what you write.

If its a couple you are messaging make sure the message is direct to the couple and not just the lady.

All the above - don't just talk to the female half. Prove you've read the profile, and make sure you have something that people can reply to to build a conversation. Statements such as "you have nice pics" are quite hard to say anything other than "thanks" to.

In addition....you didn't ask for profile advise so can't give it, but profiles that give nothing away and have "just ask" or similar are really hard work to build an interesting message from if they message us.

Make an effort to at least show you've read their profile. Be polite. Attach face pics. Don't overthink it or spend too long on it, as chances are it will go unread or deleted anyway.

But every now and then the stars align and you'll get a one word reply to a thoughtful message

If it works for you great, but just sending a short message asking us to get back to you with any interest is..a bit lazy. Especially with a short message that tells me nothing about the sender I'll never know if I am interested.

You can send the greatest, most personalised message in the world - but that won’t guarantee it will even get read, or provoke a reply. Be prepared for disappointment and frustration.

Grammar and punctuation go a long way, it's insane how much text speak gets sent, use real words and use them well, articulate why you're messaging them, what you can offer them, and make your message about them and why you liked them.

And always be polite, manners cost nothing.

It is a minefield All I do now is say hi guys I’ll keep this short and to the point and point them to my profile as it says exactly what I’m looking for and the hardware on offer lol then I send a face pic
