Has anyone got any experience of this? Not too long back i made an arse of myself during a bad bout of drink and depression, the worst part being i cocked up a few potential friendships along the way. Though sincere, Apologies and explanation only go so far. Is it better to forget it and move on or try and prove that things are much different now im in control of my emotions?

If you've apologised all you can do is be yourself and hope they notice the difference.

The best way to atone for being a knob, is by being a better person. The people you have previously apologised to might come round in time if they can see that you've changed your ways and are unlikely to repeat the behaviour that offended them previously. All the talk in the world will never come close to "walking the walk".

Anyone who says they haven’t made a tit of themselves after a few too many is a liar.

If they’re not interested in your apology I’d suggest moving on. They clearly aren’t worth your time.

If they were only potential friendships, let them go.
