Best supporting hold ups or stockings?

I’ve been a lover of stockings and hold ups for as long as I can remember.

However, due to major weightloss I’m unable to wear them anymore as my thighs are now left more than jiggly from loosing the volume.

Any recommendations of the best type to help hold that jiggle and not have the spill over?

I’ve always had M&S, primark and lovehoney.

Also happy to hear any suggestions of upper thigh exercises that might help. Although I do feel they maybe beyond help.

Yes, I’ve tried my suspender belts with the stockings I have. Still no joy.

And riding just ain’t cutting it. It’s more of a yeeeenah it’s not working! Than a yeehaaa!

I have a pair of hold ups that I love - they hold great, are ladder resistant and not too thick. I cannot remember where I bought them and cannot find another pair as good, devastated!

Personally in my opinion, I can't fault Mark's and Spencer Autograph

ladder resist hold ups, with "revolitonary sticky silicone".

Obvs their words not mine.

Tried many over the years but these are the best I have found.

Hope this helps.

Aah that’s a pain when you can’t remember. I hope it comes back to you.

M&S stockings were my go to and Primark hold ups before pre weight loss. Held everything in place and were very flattering too. But now they look ridiculous on me. I so miss wearing them.. x

Not sure if this will be helpful but I never wear hold-up stockings because they cut in and stockings held up by suspender belt is the only way. Still took some time to find stockings that are comfortable at the top though - alas, now closed. They were by Debenhams.

Thanks Matt. That’s a great help.

I haven’t tried the autograph range but will now.

Thank you.

Are they not available online?

I think you’re right about the stockings being better and definitely more comfortable. I just need to find the right pair and then buy loads!

Congratulations on losing the weight, maybe its just a smaller size you need.

Or, have you tried rubbing your thighs with soap or shower gel? Let it dry and the silicone on holdups really does grip better

I managed to find some on Ebay and stocked up. What will I do when I run out I don't know

Hopefully not an issue for another good few years and afterwards will figure it out!

But definitely found that enough space at the top, around the thigh, is crucial. Some shops do more than one size which might be helpful.

Thank you!

I’ve tried smaller sizes as I was a mare for always buying stuff too small and having to get the next size up. I think it’s a case of loose skin and maybe I will have to give up.

Aah I’ve not heard of the shower gel or soap trick. Thank you. I’ve heard of the hairspray one but that feels awful. x

That’s good to hear you have plenty to go on with. Such a nice feeling to find something and stock up.

It’s the space at the top that’s my area of concern. It’s not a pretty sight and could do with them up to my knickers!

Try hairspray to hold them up i know a few girls that swear by that trick.

i prefer stockings and waspies. i get my stockings from ebay and the TV who sell them tend to have a lot of different size, for tall short and bigger thigh girls too.

i have a couple of her fishnet hold ups and oh my those were sticky and never came down even after wearing them more than 5 times they were still holding.

Oh I love a waspie! Would love to know the sellers name. Even though I’ve lost the weight my thighs are still chunky. And best thing about an eBay seller is that it’s more personal. If I give measurements they’re more likely to help than a high st shop.

old style nylon stockings wont be too tight on your thigh. They are not cheap and may not be what you are looking for as they dont wear like modern hosiery, but I think they feel and look so good. see 'Touchable', they have an original loom

Thank you for this! I didn’t even think of trying these. I just found the site and typically it says they’re closing this year.

I’m going to order a pair to try for sure and keep everything crossed this answers my prayers.

Worth every penny if they look and feel nice.

It’s so difficult isn’t it?

I’ve got quite a collection of snags including the mock garters but only the 80 denier ones. I will have to try a lighter denier. Thank you!

Have you considered mock garters - like stockings but with the suspender bit attached .

I can’t wear hold ups because I’m short with tree trunk legs but find mock garters a great alternative

I used to love debenhams and jasper conran ones but very hard to find now.

Found a brand called flirt on ebay which are great for every day stockings.

Mine have to be reliable as I wear them under my work clothes, I know the outline and suspender bumps show but thats part of the fun! x

I never knew J Conran did holdups and stockings!

That’s great you’ve found your go to brand now though. I remember that feeling.

Aah I can imagine that feels very naughty.

The trick I use with hold ups is getting the top around the adhesive strips wet putting them on and letting the dry.. they stay up for hours unless pulled down with teeth

I can say to avoid ann summers for suspender belts lol they always fall on me, even when I size down or fasten it on the tightest setting.

The one belt I love is from blush lingerie! They’re based in Canada and I think they ship internationally. It’s a bit spenny but definitely worth it imo
