People like whatever you are _not_ doing first. Take it as read that whatever you do someone will find fault with. Just do what works for you and ignore the noise.

Agree with this. Some like winks and some don't. If I wink I always send a follow up message, even if it's a shit one :D

For us, just read profiles.. Many state their preference regards contact.

For us it's a introductory message and face pics, the effort to do so show's real interest..

We find many wink's are from profiles with next to no content of the Mr and pictures which give absolutely no idea whether we'd find them attractive.

I see winks as just a nod to someone having liked the profile but not interested enough to make contact. I might have a nose at the profile however I’d never respond to a wink or send them myself

We had a cracking meet that started with a wink but then we’ve also had a wink that then lead to a message exchange with an absolute arse.
