How do you deal with pushy people?

I'm curious on what different methods people use to deal with pushy people.

By pushy I mean the type that say hi then straight away ask for a meet and spam your message box for a reply.

I know this site has a problem with time wasters. But I feel like just a one word message followed by 15 messages asking for a meet and getting angry when they haven't gotten a reply is a bit much.

So what's your method? A simple block? Point out how rude their being? Keep leaving the messages on read to annoy them more?

We reply saying firmly that we aren't interested and stating why. If they are still persisting "just give me a chance, you won't be disappointed" then the only way is to block.

I think i agree with that method the most. It's polite and friendly considering.

The community makes the site. It's ashame some ruin it.

I had one guy sending me 12 messages some just saying ha and lol. Calling me a Time waster. Didn't even give me chance to say hello

I usually block at the first sign of pushiness.

A man I had on my block list for this reason , left fab and has recently rejoined.

I've blocked before he tries it again.

Very often these sort of guys end up giving abuse and then blocking before you can defend yourselves. Blocking before this happens doesn't give them the satisfaction. They probably wouldn't go through with the meet anyway.

I let them keep messaging getting more and more irate … then block. Key is not to reply.

It’s useful too see their real personality coming out.

Zero tolerance these days so it’s the block button.

We used to take the time to explain to people why we didn’t want to meet them but it rarely ended well

We block. No point doing anything else. Berating people isn't going to do anything and why waste time by leaving messages in limbo?

In our experience with over 10 years on fab now, the only meets that pan out are the ones where people respect what's written on your profile and they put effort into talking to us like people before anything else.

As a couple seeking couples we are very conscientious of not coming across as pushy. It's finding that right balance of being genuine and keen without being an arse about things. Not sure how well were doing but you live and learn.

Being too upfront does seem to scare people off. Weird how in a club you can go up to couples and ask them to join you or chat bit online it's such a pain in the arse to do.

I just block. I will normally just delete the first message I'm not interested in (unless its rude)

If they send one again I'll just block. I don't interact with anyone I don't want or need to.

If someone is hard work or pushy or offering caveman / cavewoman / non-binary cave dwellers etc style conversation I’d ignore / block, no point. I’d probably explain how I felt : thought prior to that but history generally shows that it’s not listened to either way
