I have this and most people are not bothered but recently few people been a bit off about it ...would it put u off meets x

It would not put me off meets - but then I know or have family who suffered from both skin ailments.

Were they prewarned of what psoriasis is?

Not at all I have it all be it very slightly...around my eyebrows and hairline

It's not contagious so I say to those who don't like it ..stuff I'm...lol

I dated a girl few years back with eczema for a couple years, we split due to her having to leave the country but we remain friends. The eczema got progressively worse for her the poor thing. Docs put her on prednisone then that caused bigger flares and then led to RSS when trying to taper off the steroids. She became extremely self conscious about her face. It never put me off and I'd never judge anyone on a skin condition. She was super cute eczema or not. If someone's funny about it you wouldn't want to meet or play with them anyway. I know how hard it can be for people suffering from helping to look after her when she was at her worst. I wish you all the best.

No , but then we’re nearly grown ups . We all have bumps/scars and creases where we never used to . It all adds to the adventure .

Absolutely not, I suspect that the sensitive ones are most probably ignorant of exactly what it is you are suffering from. You don’t say the extent of the psoriasis but unless it it is extreme then all is good unless the session actually causes you discomfort.

There’s a bit more to it than that!! And it’s spelt eczema, which is a very different condition to psoriasis. Your statement that it is “easily checked” would be challenged by the thousands of people who need steroid creams occasionally…

It is caused by an overreactive immune system, nothing to do with water additives.

Welcome to my world. I enjoyed my fair share of meets but had to always pre warn them of my psoriasis. Some went well and some not. So I decided to add my psoriasis to my profile as I was sick to death of trying to explain my condition. Since I’ve done this I get hardly any attention which is a massive kick to my confidence. People can be so cruel.

I was upfront when two cpls asked to meet and said I have psorasis said it wasn't contagious and I had a few area that had funny designs Tigger shspe on my back and a love heart shape on ankle x

I had psoriasis many years ago.

I had it for years then I had a general attack and was completely covered from head to toe for 2wks ended up in hospital.

After this had cleared i haven't had any sores anywhere its just disappeared.

People are ignorant to things they don't know or understand.

Just press on with meeting others explain all you need to them, some will understand some won't.

As it happens I seem to be allergic to my own skin have constant dry skin and underskin spots, redness and scabs. Prescription cream has done nothing for it after 4 rounds.

ive been an outpatient at the local hospital for 3 years and they have thrown every cream,ointment and pill at me but to no avail. Had another biopsy on Friday to see if they can get to the bottom of it. There may be light at the end of the tunnel hopefully.

I’ve never gone further than a GP. I’m needing to get the next tier up on medicated cream but cannot get to see the doctor because of this virus going on. At the minute i just live with it try anything I can

I have had psoriasis since a child its bugger all to do with water its the immune issue.

I have no gripe with folk having other opinions but when not fact based thats different!

psoriasis is a auto-immune illness and nothing to do with water nor is eczema. Your view is very outdated and not helpful. Until u suffer from these u will not understand the daily struggles

C has it and it doesn't put us off meeting people. Sometimes if Cs is bad it means he can't go in hottubs or whatever.

I'd be put off meeting other people while it's bad.

Mine's pretty bad at the mo as it flares up when ill.

It's very rare for others to comment on it though.

Mr. I have psoriasis, since 16.. An auto immune disease as much as I hate to add the frank word disease! Triggers can be alcohol, stress, diet (and please read not necessarily bad diet, just food elements that react with you personally) I will say bluntly I've never hid it swim regularly and have the attitude it is part of me! I 'control' as I can without being a monk (irony on here hey?!

) Have a sexy, caring girlfriend and due to having to moisturise daily since 16 many struggle to believe I am not far from 50.. So Every Cloud!!! Thank you if you have taken the time to read my ramblings! Please do not let this or any condition define who you are or limit what you want to do!!

When i went to a specialist he gave me a cream called , locoid , it was brilliant at reducing soreness. Not sure if it's still available but might be worth asking if you haven't already tried it

Rubbish!!

Excema is caused by a variety of different things, and although some forms may respond to just using an emollient, not all will.

Psoriasis is not just rough skin. It is an autoimmune condition where your body over produces skin cell, and there are many many different forms.

That answer is super ignorant and dismissive of people who suffer with these conditions.

OP, anyone who is put off by an illness is not worth your time or effort

As a person who has had psoriasis since my teenage years, it can be an absolute nightmare.

I have it on both knees, thighs, across my bum and both elbows.

I've tried every cream available, now on the list for light therapy, not that I'm holding my breath.

My trigger is absolutly stress.

I don't usually tell people I have psoriasis, unless im having a really bad flare up, but then I probably wouldn't meet anyway.

In the past month, I've had two guys at Clubs ask me what it is on my elbows. I tell them, and they don't seem to be put off by it.

I like to educate people! Nobody is perfect

Light therapy worked amazing for me...had 3 sessions a week for 12 weeks x

My son suffers with it terribly. Protopic cream has helped greatly and he can use it on his face.

The annoying thing about psoriasis is that everyone’s solutions are going to be different… so for me it’s about learning some of the triggers and finding solutions…

My biggest trigger was always stress… which made it worse because when it flair’s up you get more stressed about it….

I found for me aloe Vera gels are a godsend!!! Even grew plants so you can chop a bit off

I had eczema as a child cleared up as a young teenager. Then in my mid 50s came back had it again about 3 years. Had cream tablets alsorts kind of down to odd little bit now. Would love to know why after 40 years came back.

J has psoriasis that is stress triggered.

UV treatment with sun beds really helps and keeps it at bay during a flare.

Patches on hands, calf’s and occasionally eyebrows if really bad.

Careful with UV treatment as some types of psoriasis are triggered by it.

I've had it for the last 30 odd yrs... it comes it goes, it flared up very badly over Christmas whilst I had covid, the doc gave me Enstilar which calmed it down within a few days, at the moment it's very settled so I feel comfortable meeting, but when it flares up I won't because it takes away all my confidence and yes people can be very cruel, but then that's the ones that have no idea what it is and rather than ask the question they just judge you. Hope you feel better soon OP X

Take a white sock, half fill it with plain oats and attach it to your hot water tap on your bath with an elastic band so that the hot water passes through the sock as your bath fills.

It will make the water milky in colour by filling it with tiny gentle exfoliating particles

These will not only exfoliate the skin but sooth it too.

If your scalp is itchy, try mashing some banana and rubbing it into the scalp, leaving it there for ten minutes before washing it out with Luke warm water to relieve the itchiness.

I can relate to this massively, I has psoriasis bad for 12 years, tried everything from the doctor including creams, tablets, uv treatment even intense UV baths at the hospital. Nothing helped until 3 years ago I was offered a trial drug one injection every 2 weeks into the leg and OMG within a month I was clear. Unfortunately I will be on these for the rest of my life but it certainly helps

I (Mr) have had problems with Psoriasis since I was a teenager. I don't have large patches of it like some people do, it's more individual plaques covering a fairly wide area, legs, chest and arms mostly. Never really met anyone who's been bothered by it, or if they were they were too polite to say so, it's more me that has the issue with it as it affects my confidence in how I look. Tried all sorts of creams and lotions over the years and nothing has ever really had a long term effect on it.

I have it too - Psoriasis but only on an elbow, but have family who have it all over. One niece also developed cancer related to the psoriasis. She’s fine now.

A niece (I have many nieces lol) had bad eczema as a child and she was told to get off cows milk and on to goats. Hers cleared up and she eventually grew out of it but it returned some years ago and is as bad now as it was when she was a kid

Eczema is a dermatitis condition and has nothing to do with additives in water

Can’t even blame Google for this shocking “explanation”

Also Psoriasis (note the silent P) is a different condition to Eczema. I have an allergy to nickel and get eczema whenever it touches my skin. I have a patch of Psoriasis on an elbow which is always there.

It generally takes a steroid cream to calm down the symptoms but it will always be present unless the sufferer has intensive treatment like sun beds, or goes on holiday to where the sun is.

Those who do have psoriasis have you ever taken Vitamin D in a spray under the tongue? Makes a huge difference

I take an extra strength Vit D tablet every day, and yet I still have quite severe flare ups.

The only time I was truly clear was when I went to Thailand for 5 weeks! Whether that was due to the weather, the salt water, or lack of stress, I dunno.

But I think I need to emigrate!
