I ask as I'm 47 but often wonder Is there any point in messaging ladles in their 20s or 30s. It's rare that I get replies anyway, but never had anyone younger than 40 message me.

We had a 65 year old man msg us lastight. We polity told him that he was out of our age range. He then replied with I think most people on here think we must die over the age of 60 which was uncalled for. I then told him that if he had read our profile then he wouldn't have been so disappointed and left with a rude comment. Read the age they are looking for or not as the case may be.

If your filters are set correctly he shouldn't have been able to message you.

Over the years, I have met younger women in their 20's and I have met some lovely women 70 + in both cases it was a all about the chemistry between us , not the age

Every profile has their desired age range for all to see. If you fit their age range, then message them if you like, if you don’t then don’t bother.

It’s like anything else on here; the profile makes plain what someone is looking for. If they’re not interested in guys your age, the profile should tell you that. If they are interested in older guys but you don’t get a response then it’s not your age that’s the problem.
