Been fantasising about doing this to my partner. He was reluctant, for obvious reasons, but has bought me a kit to give it a go. Very appreciative but where to start other than Google?

Anyone with advice for a total newbie? TIA

Start with the thinnest rod and only go a tiny way in

It's not something I've ever tried but scrupulous cleanliness is key apparently.

First thing I would suggest is seeking out a local kink munch or group or even workshop that covers sounding.

Failing that research before you even go near sticking anything in. Make sure you both understand the risks of sticking a metal rod in a urethra, and what your plans are for if it goes pear shaped.

Cleanliness is paramount - the sounds and the lube you use.

Id suggest buying sterile lube sachets from a reputable source (google med fet uk -all one word, or sterile lubricating gel)

Its unlikely you will have an autoclave, so boiling the metal sounds will help clean them and is a bit safer than just rubbing them with a detol wipe before play.

Don’t go to fast to soon. Use a slim sound, and get used to the feelings. Don’t start stabbing the urethral sphincters with a metal rod on your first go.

Maybe start with short silicone sounds. Very flexible. Tapered ones may feel more comfy to start with. Cleanliness is essential as mentioned before. Love the feeling!!

Thanks for the advice. We have the wipes and lube at ready and mentally preparing myself for not jabbing it in. Will look for a forum etc, thanks

Thanks for feedback. Tens machine sounds fun, but I'll see how he takes to it for now

Hopefully he'll enjoy. He's bought metal rods, so I'll try them first but might have to switch if he doesn't take to them, or I'll be advertising for a sounding partner

Before doi g any sounding I would very closely inspect the sounds to make sure none of them have any rough edges or other imperfections that causes issues. This is especially important with plated sounds.

Then decide how your going to clean the sounds. Personally as a minimum I like to wash mine with an antibaterial soap and extensiley rinse them before leaving then soaking in freshly boiled water. If you need a clean surface to put them onto the clingfilm can be a good choice, the manufacturing process means the stuff stays reasonably sterile until unrolled.

I would advise against starting too thin. Very slim sounds may not have sufficient girth to fully stay in contact with the urethral walls make uncontrolled insertion more likely. Also very thin sounds increase the risk of causing a tear.

With a set I would suggest trying one with a 6 mm outer diameter (18 Fr if scaled in French gauge) first. If you feel it is sliding in too quickly move up a size or two. If you are having problems getting it past the meatus then try reducing a size.

Personally I prefer stainless steel sounds to silicone as these have the enough weight to them that they should slowly slide in due to gravity when you have the size right whilst silicone ones can need additional encouragement which is hard to judge sometimes.

Nafferton, nr Driffield.

The hygiene bit is the important thing before anything. Stainless steel is better I find and a good lube, I use silicone. Not too thick to start and go slow.

Happy to demonstrate if in Bridlington......

Thanks for the advice re not going too small and what to feel for. It's a set of 6 metal rods, do should be able to find the right size?

But I'll check for anything that could cut him, wouldn't want to taint the experience with something like that!
