Sharing other peoples videos

A couple we have been talking to for a while sent us a video of them playing with another couple, in the video you can clearly see the other couples faces no blurring or anything, we said does the other couple know you have shown people the video and they have said no.

To us that's a no no especially with unblurred faces in the videos,

What do others think ?

Thanks Sheena

Hi OP,

personally I wouldn't directly share (or post on my profile (either public or friends only)) a video/image which contained other people for which I had not requested and received express permission, even if faces were blurred or obscured. I'm also super careful about tattoos and blur/obscure those as well. If someone shared an image/video of me without my express permission I'd feel that it was an forgivable breach of trust.

I was recently filmed (very briefly and as part of a group of colleagues) for a corporate video at work (obviously non sexual) and I had to sign a 'release form' to show that I had given permission to be filmed. That release form clearly stated the purposes for which the film was going to be (or may in the future be) used.

If I was in your position and someone had shared something with me that they then told me they did not have permission to share I would not meet with them under any circumstances and would also cease any further contact. My standpoint is that if they will do it with you, then in all likelihood they would also do it to you.

Sounds to me like you have doubts (hence your post). Trust your instincts is my advice.

You haven't said whether the video was shared through fab or by private email etc. However the FAQ (reproduced below and link included) is very clear on photos/images:

***

Others in your photo OK so long as faces are obscured and you have permission. You can have other people in your photos too (to clarify, you must also be in the photo) so long as you have their permission to upload to your account on here AND their faces are obscured (face pixellated or blacked out; just blacking out the eyes is NOT ok).

Can a forum Mod please confirm the above also applies to videos?

Thank you for posting this and highlighting it for the benefit of our community.

Best wishes.

To the OP its a shitty thing to do is there anyway the unsuspecting couple can been identified and informed?

This is why when / if we do videos the ones we keep only have our faces in and the ones they keep only have their faces in.

Filthy Fuckeryville

That's wrong and not nice - would put me off meeting someone!!

I met a guy a few years back who filmed a meet I had with him but he didn't let me know until a couple months later - by sending me a clip of it!!! I was horrified and nothing I could do about it. I sought advice as he had footage of us fucking for several hours but was told that there was little I could do as I would have to prove I didn't know he was filming me....

Calderdale innit

That's totally out of order and shows lack of discretion.

If block them right away, if they do that with videos of meets, what else do they do/say.

This is a definite no no, also keeping photos/vids of an ex is a no in my book (NSFW I mean, not pictures of you both on holiday).

you have to be soft in the head to allow pics, video to be taken and then think its never going to shared, splashed across the net. Even if the people you did this are honest there is no certainty that the videos won't get stolen, etc, etc. Hacking is rife as is phone and laptop theft.

Central

It's not an acceptable thing to do and I would refuse to view anything that had anyone other than the people in it, that were showing me the video.

Its a 100% no and probably illegal.

Yes we like videos to reflect on and remind us of times we have had, I have several but they were all taken with consent and all reside in a secure folder. They are for me and me only and will never be seen by others.

This is exactly why I won't have anyone film or take pics! I just don't trust that they won't end up somewhere they shouldn't be
