I’m heading to a club for the first time this evening. I’m a bit nervous but also excited. It’s fancy dress and I have a costume, and I’m going with no expectation to play but obviously if play happens it’s a bonus

Does anyone have any advice to help a sometimes shy newbie come out of his shell?

Don't be shy. From someone who likewise is shy I know its easier said than done. But push your comfort zone and make an effort to approach people and socialise (providing its an appropriate time/space). Smile, be polite, be freindly. Don't fear knock backs. It's all part of it. And most people are lovely so even if it's no thanks it will be a pleasant no thanks (as long as your not a dick or pushy). I (Mr) started in clubs as a single male and I know the more you put in the more you get out. It gets easier with experience and practice.

Hope you have a great night.

Absolutely. I'm very shy too. I took going to a club as an opportunity to force myself to get out of my shell. I made myself talk with people, and I haven't looked back.

It's very tempting to sit in the corner and watch everyone having fun. And that might be a good idea at the very start, just so you can see how the others are handling it. But don't do it for long.

Clubs are places where people have sex, but that's not all that they're about. Don't focus on it. People talk about everything. You've got a room full of new, interesting people. Make the most of it. Be friendly and likable. If people like you, they're a lot more likely to want to see you again later.

Thanks. I’m going to do my best to push out of my shell and hopefully joining in with the theme will help

Talk to people, smile don't be part of the wanking dead.

You should post how it goes on this thread. It may help others to take the plunge.

Hi guys, thanks for all the advice. My car decided tonight was the night to throw a hissy fit so I couldn’t make it in the end. Gutted doesn’t begin to cover it

Hopefully I’ll get there another time.

Sorry you didn't get to go... but I think for next time there has been some great advice.... even as couples we find it hard to walk up and chat to people. Its like getting a balance between trying to strike a rapport and blending.

Hope you have fun when you get there

Try another night. We would suggest maybe not a Saturday as they are busy, up to you though, what club was you hoping to attend? See if they have a day opening so you can get a feel for the club/layout and maybe talk to the staff about how it usually is. But good for you trying.

Thank you. It’s Club Play in Blackpool. I think they’re just open on weekends at the moment but I’ll see. Bloody car buggered up tonight but hopefully I’ll be able to go another time.

Drop them a message, ask for opening times. We haven't been there, we have been to infusion though thats a nice club, with a pool which was enjoyable. Lots of good reviews for club play though we have seen on fab.
