High standards vs being snobby.

I posted the other day about my dislike of genito-urinary medicine grade photos on profiles and today joined discussion on text speak in profiles.

The way I see it, your profile is how you're introducing your self to prospective playmates, so in essence people you want to impress.

Isn't it more impressive to have a well thought out, clearly written profile, with a few cheeky, sexy, accurate pictures, rather than a spiel of lol speak and a close up of bodily fluid leaking out of stretched open giblets?!?!

If I see pictures like that, or text speak I wonder how they would conduct themselves in public. . . . .

I know I'm not perfect, and certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but I feel you need to make a little more effort if you want nice people to sleep with you!

So snobby or high standards?

For the record we share that opinion. That's the important part. Follow your own ideas and beliefs instead of conforming to others. Text speak will put us off straight away.

To be honest, i dont think its snobbing or having high standards. Its common sense. If your applying for a job you dont send a cv off with three words written on it. All the people that seek advice about profiles. Need to understand that a well written informative profile will get you far more attention. If someone messages me and i go to look at their profile, i like to see a basic outline of what they are looking for. As for text speak i wouldnt even bother trying to read it, its slightly acceptable if your about 20, but nothing looks more ridiculous than someone in their 40's say, writing in text speak

We wouldn't bother with anyone who uses text speak or (even worse) can't spell.

If they don't take care with what they write how are they going to take care elsewhere?

Nothing wrong with high standards.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me but then I'm a picky cow.

I find people using your/you're and there/their incorrectly off-putting (save for the odd mistake). It's not enough in itself to turn me off someone but it contributes to the overall picture, and not in a positive way.

But hey, plenty of people are not into me either. To each his own. You can't help what you find unappealing.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

As I don't seek out couples I've not really had to put up with pussy close-ups. However some men have surprisingly candid photos of their bumholes. Can be a shock when just having a sneaky perve.

As for profiles, whatever the message I'll check profiles and, if it's shorter than their message (which is usually 2 words) then it gets deleted. I hope my profile is informative, and my pictures don't put people off their lunches, so would prefer to get messages from people who feel the same.

Totally agree! There is nothing wrong with high standards! Why settle for someone who cannot string two words together. Text speak in context I can live with, just not an entire sentence in it. lol.........

As for pictures of giblets, agreed, not the first thing we want to see. xx

I guess as with all things 'Fab' - we should consider it each to their own and personal preference!!

Previous posters are right about standards over snobbery - but don't forget - what floats your boat may sink someone else's!

If its not for you - move on! If it is - move in!!

Totally agree. Absolutely abhor text speak on anything other than a text and blurry close ups of the last chicken in the shop put me right off. You wouldn't go up to someone in a bar and say "lol

U wanna fuk" while waving your tackle about so why expect to get anywhere with it here.

lol, love the last post about last chicken in shop and waving ones tackle...so True!!!

Its truly bizarre why some people think its ok to do that when you want to meet someone for the most intimate pleasure there is!

I think you are entitled to your opinion, as I am my own...

People procure their own profiles to the best of their ability. However they present themselves is entirely up to them, and hopefully they have designed their profiles to be acceptable to others and easily interpreted as to their preferences and intentions. Whether they use graphic pictures to represent themselves or the so called abbreviated 'text speak' is their own choice.

I think that people attract their intended audience, and when this fails you see the 'what am I doing wrong' type threads on the forum.

Thirdly, how people conduct themselves in public is irrelevant in this instance... this is a members only place, and not 'the public'.

Finally, effort is relative. Some people are quite literally dyslexic, or have similar conditions and find it very hard to put what they want to say in words. Some don't always provide pictures which visually represent themselves properly, but it does represent effort on behalf of the profile holder, and is far better than a silhouette with a 'will fill this in later' type of profile which you see plenty of.

I have good diction, and have a good eye for a picture, but I also find any effort praiseworthy and worthy of encouragement, rather than summarily dismissing those that don't immediately satisfy my aesthetic for the sake of some tin-pot idealism.

Wot n amazin fred dis is!

We also detest text speak and those that even use it for texting let alone conversing with others on here.

We also hate pictures with dirty washing and mess in the background but that makes us sound really snobby, we know!

Fast becoming our number one on the hate list though is messages saying, Hi, how are you?

Now we know first messages are tricky as we send our own but damn.......surely you can do better than that!!!!!!! Oh and over use of punctuation marks too!!!!!!!!

I know what I like and dislike, and when I come across photos/profiles that do not appeal to me for whatever reasons, I would pass and move on to the next one.

I can't help it that I find certain pics/profiles crass and unappealing, and sometimes I would ask myself "Do peeps really think they look good in that photo?"

That occurs in day to day life too, summer is the worst!
