Great Missenden

We went Jan 2019 before all this really kicked off.

Really liked it. Did some quad biking and hired some mopeds so we could explore the island.

Watched the kite surfers on the east side which were stunning.

We stayed at the Tortuga on Sal

If you just want to sit on a beach and drink cocktails then we would recommend it.

It you like to see local culture and explore then its OK but Sal isn't big and doesn't take long to explore.

No swinging or nakedness that we found. There were a few other couples on Fab there though.

Windy with miles of Sandy beaches . Ideal for wind surfing and kite flying but little else to see tbf . The tourism hasn’t really caught on and what with COVID can’t see it being that popular going forward .

A nice week relaxing on a lounger though , very discretely topless (it’s not allowed) and certainly no swinging activities.

I went to the rui funame. Hotel was great but would never go back to Cape Verde. Advertised as the African Caribbean..... Not a chance

Also been to the Riu Touareg on Boa Vista.

They do have the bonus of an adults only section which may be beneficial if your hoping to meet similar people.. but this isn’t a swinging hotel.

You just may have more chance of meeting fellow lifestyle people there.

Holiday wise.. it’s a very quiet island. Very few excursions, very windy which is a godsend as can get nice and hot.

The Atlantic is treacherous tho.. in the two weeks I was there which was beginning of February, we had constant red flags on the beach so too rough to go in the water.

Also.. bit of a bonus .. but I was delayed by 5 days coming home due to sandstorms.. so nothing could fly in or out.. just felt sorry for the folk coming in as they got diverted to lanzarorette for the 5 days until they could land in Cape Verde

Brilliant place . It can even quiet, no swinging as such as more have said. Lots of private beach area for nude sunbathing and playing.

Lots of potential for casual hook up fun. Also a club way out on the beach and again good for casual fun.

We would go back.

Waiters and staff are fantastic. They all talk

We asked one at reception for a nudist beach we got told no.

Then very discreetly told us where it was and showed up making sure we were OK and joined us.

Been 3 times it’s perfect if you’ve had a tough year working and just want to do nothing for two week! Done the Roy’s funana, Touareg and karamboa

Great fun in the ocean as the waves get crazy!

Fylde Coast

The Cape Verde islands are predominantly a family destination. I've never seen any naturism etc. But it is a great place to visit but be careful if you are out on the beach or off the beaten track after dark as there are some, as the locals call them, bandits. I personally never had any issues but I was warned about it. Quite honestly it mainly an all inclusive resort destination.

We walked to the pier from our hotel to watch them bring the catch in on the small boats..two blokes ended up fighting and whipped knives out both trying to claim a shark they’d caught..was abit crazy lol

I've been to Cape Verde 4 times and love it. Stayed at the Groupa Hotel on Sal and hotel was faultless . Beach is amazing and although there is not a lo to do we still had 4 great holidays there. Go; you'll love it !

Here, there and everywhere!

I thought it was a wind swept barren sh!t hole.

Apart from an island tour to see more sand and some salt there was nothing outside the hotel and the local village of Santa Maria could be seen in 30 minutes.

Large chunks of the village are still under construction but most look like nothing had been done to them in years so it gave the whole area a sort of zombie apocalypse feeling.

Depends what you're after. For a super chilled out break in the sunshine it's amazing and offers just enough to do for a week or two without getting boring.

We went a couple of years back, and I'd been 8 or so years before that. It'd changed a bit, but not much. More developed now.

Stayed in the Tortuga the first time, and it felt fairly bare, but authentic. Last time we stayed in the Llana and it was amazing.

Highly recommend heading into Sal, and doing both the island tour and catamaran trips.
