I (him) had both mine done over the last 3 years or so. I had the first one done with a standard 1.6mm ring, and it probably took about 6 months to fully heal, although it was playable, gently, in half that.

There really is nothing to be done in preparation - and most reputable piercers don't like to use anaesthetic creams , as there seems to be a bigger than average rejection rate with them, although nipples are pretty 'meaty' and would tend to hold a piercing better than other sites on the body.

I decided the 1.6 was a bit 'skinny' and had it stretched, twice, to a final diameter of 3.2mm which suits me. The second one was pierced at 2.4, and subsequently stretched to 3.2, and probably took longer to initially heal than the smaller piercing.

Stretching isn't particularly painful, as long as the initial piercing is well healed, but still takes a few weeks to settle down completely afterwards.

Oh, and the initial piercing hurts. A lot! Like some lesbian is sticking a needle through your nip.. oh, hang on, that's what happened!

But it is a very short pain experience, literally a few seconds, before it settles into a dull ache, which a couple of painkillers will sort.

Lots of gentle after-care - daily washing with mild saline solution - I was advised to use that rather than the pre-mixed antiseptic liquids sometimes recommended - and I found that NOT rotating the piercing made the healing faster.

I love 'em, and am delighted I had them done, but it will take a good chunk of a year before they are completely healed.

have fun! And post pics!!

Exactly as above. Salt solution and wash it daily. Remove puss etc. Had mine 12 years.

when i had mine done it was kind of spur of the moment.

i walked in, told them what i wanted and was out in 10 mins.

there was no time to change my mind lol.

i did have to go back as the 1st bar wasnt long enough but apart from some cold spray and a sharp scratch feeling it was all fine.

go for it lol

I used savlon on the nipple piercing when I had it done, but used saline on the genital piercing I had, and would recommend saline solution for any piercing now.

Like the previous poster said the pain is quite ouchy, especially if the piercer fumbles with getting the jewellery in, but then settles down to being tender then achy for a while, before subsiding completely. The piercer did say that for my first piercing I'd handled it rather well and hadn't even winced... self-control is a wonderful thing

Anyway, good luck with yours. My undersensitive nipple became more sensitive than ever, then settled to be about equal to the originally more sensitive one - ideal

I had the worst experience with mine, they both got infected as the bars they put in were too short and it meant I couldn't clean them properly. Had them done in November last year and still leaking lymph fluid daily. Not trying to put a downer on it but just my experience. If I could go back I wouldn't have had them done. Liz x

If you have the right jewellery fitted (and a BCR seems more popular than a bar at 'our' piercing studio) and look after it, you shouldn't have any problems. I jumped the guna bit with one, and let someone play with it a bit too early, and it went sore again, but be patient and all should be well...

But don't forget it's a completely different healing process for women, men don't have milk ducts

i had one done and it took alot longer to heal than i thought, the peircing itself was quite horny, made me twitch anyway, but i would only get the one done, i love feeling the difference in sensitivity between the two.

kept it clean and infection free x

Had mine for 3 months now and almost healed.

Just used a antiseptic wound wash and ear buds to clean the piercing and bar morning and night and after showering.

No problems so far..

I was a little nervous of using the jacuzzies at Chams with it so sprayed and cleaned after using it

Basically, you just need to keep it clean i think.

I had my nipple done 7 years ago, Initally pierced horizontally with a 1.8 bar. With proper care ( regular cleaning with saline) it healed fine quickly, changed it to a bcr ( ring) after a month or so. About 6months after it healed I had a 1.6 bar pierced vertically through the same nipple. Now that one hurt because the piercer had to pull the nipple so she could pierce behind the bcr!! Once it settled down and healed it looked fantastic and a bit unique - had to remove the vertical one now though because combined my nipple looked huge compared to the un pierced one! I also tried to stretch it out to 2mm but sadly my nipple must be too meaty because it wouldn't work!! My advice is just go for it!! If you don't like it later you can take it out and let it heal up!!

Some people say you should only clean with cooled boiled water.

But I really recommend Saflon wound wash.

My best aftercare advice is don't forget you've just got it done a couple of hours ago and run at your friend and hug her. The result is a friend, deaf from your screams, and lots of blood!

I got my 1st at 16 but it didn't actually heal properly until I got my 2nd one done a year or 2 later. It was if my body could only concentrate on healing one thing at a time!

My other advice is if you don't like the look of the place, get out! My place looks like an operating room it's that clean and sterile. Feel very comfortable there.

This is very true, everyone's will heal differently so I guess you won't know until you get them done yourself x

Burton on Trent.

get it done, i had both mine done and my clit hood at the same time, told the woman to do clit first, but f*&k me did it hurt (low pain threshold) and they cant freeze clits, but then nips didnt seem too bad im comparison, healing time is quite long but can gently touch few weeks afterwards.i didnt have sensitivity in nips beforehand so enjoyed the heightened feelings afterwards, and now they have non again.

but i would say get it done, i love mine, all 3!!

G head his done over 10 years ago, originally at 1.6mm and they are now at 3.2mm. Look good and fel great. Go for it, although they are maybe the longest piercings to heal and perhaps the most painful. A PA is nothing compared to nips!
