Hotels reopening

With all the various dates being thrown around.

Can anyone remember when hotels are allowed to open generally.

Without having to prove you are there for work etc.

Premier Inn are about the same. We use a particular one in Norwich. Before lockdown a room on a Monday or Tuesday cost about £30. A week after lockdown finishes the same room is nearly £80. I know they have lost money during lockdown but shafting regular customers doesn't seem to be the way to get it back

They will probably fill their overpriced rooms while everyone is chomping at the bit for any kind of holiday and it's not practical to go abroad. It's a real shame for those on a tight budget who normally holiday in the UK and are the normal bread and butter customers. But they may find when cheap foreign holidays start up again those of us that normally holiday in the UK may remember the hotels that extorted them out of the market this year.

We have booked a few trips away, mainly Travelodge and Premier Inns and the prices have been pretty reasonable we thought.

We might have been lucky or we have just picked some unpopular places to visit ??

I’m travelling to Blackpool in May, staying at the Travelodge and it cost me £50 for two nights. Not exactly breaking the bank and at a really popular place to stay.

So there’s bargains out there as long as you pick the right time to go

Step 3 - not before 17 May

Social contact

As part of Step 3, no earlier than 17 May, the government will look to continue easing limits on seeing friends and family wherever possible, allowing people to decide on the appropriate level of risk for their circumstances.

This means that most legal restrictions on meeting others outdoors will be lifted - although gatherings of over 30 people will remain illegal. Indoors, the Rule of 6 or 2 households will apply - we will keep under review whether it is safe to increase this.

As soon as possible and by no later than Step 3, we will also update the advice on social distancing between friends and family, including hugging. But until this point, people should continue to keep their distance from anyone not in their household or support bubble.

I have two dates booked in one of the Aintree Premier Inns, each @ £35 per night, with free cancellation/refund up to 3 days before the stay

They might be thinking that some of their regular customers are only going there to shaft each other so they're just getting in on the game
