If you have gone out to meet with a guy, you drive to place, he drives to place and he gets parking ticket but you don't, what would you do or what should he do?

Ask to pay half or offer to pay half?

Even if you came in the same car, isn't it the responsibility of the driver/car owner to make sure they are parking legally? And, therefore, isn't it their responsibility if they chose to park where they did, took the chance, and then got fined for it to pay the fine themselves? They should not expect you to pay half, you didn't make them park where they parked.

A whole thread where nobody has kicked off re:a corona meet!

Funnily when I first met Mr DIFY I got a speeding ticket and he offered to pay half but I told him not to be daft! He didn’t have his foot on the pedals.

I also know of a lady (no longer uses site) who had a fab meet and when the fella turned up he told her he didn’t fancy her and could he have half for the hotel room cos ‘it was a waste now he couldn’t have sex and how long was her walk home’ - the absolute poor cow. I would just laugh tbh and have done lots of times. I prob get around 7-10 parking fines a year always from my own stupidity or lazyness at either stopping somewhere I shouldn’t / over running ticket duration

So I don’t have any feel bad for someone else that got a ticket for similar action.

Take it on the chin is what I would tell them . Now if I was in a shared car I would just give them half though Incase I was the distraction that causes the penalty

I don't even get why anyone would suggest it. If he's parked his car and either decided to chance it or not paid for the car park, it's no one's fault but his own!

Ok, maybe if you'd said 'hey, park on this street, it's free after 6pm' and he believed you, but it turned out to be after 7pm, then maybe, - maybe - there might be an argument that you should offer to go halves, though even then, he's the driver, the safety and legality of his car and driving is his responsibility.

My friend didn't, only difference we left the hotel to go to the club in my car. I never dreamt of asking her to pay half. Also when I contested the invoice and showed evidence I was staying at the hotel it was cancelled.

Central

We're each individually responsible for how we use our cars, keep them roadworthy, insured, taxed etc and any repurcussions arising from what we choose to do or do wrong, we carry that burden.

If someone I knew faced what to them is a debt that would break them and their wellbeing, I'd consider some help. For a no strings meet, before lockdown, so a long time ago, I'd assume someone would have saved up as best they could to pay a fine notified within a couple of weeks. If they'd been without income for a year, they would be better to seek support elsewhere, I think.

If they are aggressively demanding money, it is wrong. I'd have no problem getting the police involved whatsoever. His circumstances may be awful but imposing obligations where none exist, isn't a healthy or reasonable choice. It's different only where his behaviour was influenced by being advised that someone would help to foot the bill, should anything happen

Parking fines are the driver's responsibility - he chose to park there, he chose not to pay for a long enough stay, he gets to pay the parking fine.

"If you have gone out to meet with a guy, you drive to place, he drives to place and he gets parking ticket but you don't, what would you do or what should he do?

Ask to pay half or offer to pay half?

He's the man he should pay for his parking ticket, and if you take both cars, he should pay for both.

"

Why should he pay for both?!!!

My car, I pay my own way.

To be a gentleman, just because you may only be meeting to sleep with eachother, it doesn't mean you should not show her the same respect you would a girlfriend or close friend.

I'm not saying you pay her rent, car payments, gas and electricity, but what's wrong with being a gentleman?

Nothing wrong with being a gentleman in the true sense of the word but if it’s her parking fine she should pay it just like the undesirable this thread is about.

"Just ignore it and it will eventually go away they really don't anymore.

Never ignore a parking ticket. They are quite quick to end up with bailiffs at the door.

Thank you, not my ticket and not for my car, it's up to him to deal with it I wasnt meaning for you.. sorry... I meant people advising others to ignore them...

In your case.. I've been there. I told the guy not really my problem x "

The only thing I’d expect to pay is more attention to where I park next time very odd request to ask someone else to pay, as an adult with a driving licence it would be my responsibility. "

How can anyone think that it’s a reasonable request to ask for someone else to pick up your own parking fine?

"Did he expect you to pay half of his petrol bill too?

Parking fines are the driver's responsibility - he chose to park there, he chose not to pay for a long enough stay, he gets to pay the parking fine.

As for having the audacity to ask you to contribute? I wouldn't be keen to meet someone again if they had hat much brass neck!

Room 237 at The Overlook Hotel, Suffolk

I went on a social and got a parking ticket as I was there for too long as I got there early and didn't check the paring restrictions, never even told the guy I met about it as it was my fault not his wouldn't dream of asking him to pay it even half of it he didn't tell me to park there and be early

Bit of an insulting to expect you to pay half, maybe you should have asked him for half the cost of the fuel you used to get there plus road tax, insurance costs

If I met a woman for a social and we got on so well that she accidentally over stayed on the parking she had paid for I'd offer to pay.

I don't think your situation is remotely similar though.

Wouldn't mind getting a parking ticket, that's easy, it's getting the meet in the first place

So no, tell him where to go, and pay the correct rate in future or find a spot with no time limit, just in case it's a really good meet

It’s not your issue at the end of the day he’s responsible for how and where he parks if he got a ticket then he has to pay end of.

Not your fault not like you called the warden to ticket him.
