Subtle lighting for photos and cam corder

Looking for suggestions for a type of light for photographing meets, when able. In a low light living room. Maybe Amazon or eBay ? Can’t be too bright but enough for good photo quality and cam cording .

Lights that aren't too bright?

So normal lights, not studio lighting.

If you don't want studio lighting, it becomes the camera's job to deal with the light available.

Other than suggesting multiple light sources, preferably diffused (lamp shade not a bare bulb), to eliminate shadows, I'm not sure what to say.
