Ok, so I'm turning 40 this year, and and thinking about getting the snip. I have 2 beautiful daughters and that's enough!

But I'm just wondering, I'm sure there must be done gents in the Fab world who have had it done, does it hurt bad? Did it effect anything? Did it make anything better? Any advice would be "Fab"

Had it done years ago electro no scapel method felt like being electrocuted in the nuts.

Means with a long term partner no need for other contraception but with casual partners still need condoms anyway.

Recovery was pretty quick and you get to wank loads

Not myself but my cousin was 'adjusted'a few years back. Have you ever heard the joke about making a Camel take on board extra water by bricking him ? My cousin was a lot like that, couldn't stand upright for several days .

I had it done.

The only thing it changed was that myself and my partner at the time felt less anxious about her getting pregnant, and she no longer needed to sort the side effects of the pill.

As for, did it hurt. Nope. Ached a bit but that was it.

Most stories you hear about the pain come from the scalpel op, which is hardly done in the UK anymore.

For that they actually cut your ballsack open, and cut out a section of your vas (sperm tubes).

Now we go through scalpel-less op, where they rub an anesthetic on your balls to numb them, make a tiny puncture hole, then insert a tool that quarterises (heats up and melts together) the vas.

Just wear tight pants after to keep things in place, and try not to move too much for a few days after as the ache is horrible (but not painful).

When I was considering having a vasectomy, I asked a very good ( female) friend who’s then husband had been neutered, if there’s anything she could share to put my mind at rest...... her answer...”it tastes exactly the same “ ....... needless to say I had the procedure, and many many years later married said girl.......

I had the snip 11 years ago, by the same ‘no scalpel’ technique as described by others on the thread. It was no issue at all, and quite enjoyed the (I think) morphine I was administered for the procedure. Then just tight fitting pants, paracetamol, and bags of frozen sweet corn, took it easy over the weekend ( Friday morning appointment), and back to work on the Monday. A few weeks later you give them a sample, and they give you your Jaffa certificate As you will see from my vids, it hasn’t affected my ejaculate.......

Just get it done mate

I was talking to somebody who had had it, and he said it makes things much "thinner", I thought that he meant it has made his cock thinner... but he was talking about his ejaculate!

I didn't realise until later that that was what he was referring to though.

Nor mine.

Sperm only make up able 5% of ejaculate so shouldn't really be noticeable.

So it's likely to either be in his head, or something else has changed which he falsely thought was due to the op.

I got neutered in July (ni scalpel method, 2 weeks waiting time and £430. Far easier than NHS interrogation during covid).

Felt a little strange and a little discomfort in the lower abdomen at the time.

Drove 2 hours home straight after and only a little tenderness for 1 day.

Just do it if you're content with your current family line up.

I got done back in 2006ish. Had a small cyst removed from a bollock as well so they did both at the same time under a general anaesthetic. No pain, dull ache for a couple of days, back to work after a restful weekend.

No side effects, never felt any different.

My husband had it done some years ago.

He had a tiny incision can't even see it now. It was done under local anaesthetic.

If I remember correctly he was a tad sore for a day or two.

It hasn't affected his semen. It's still thick and juicy.

I had it done about a year ago and I’m not going to lie, it was not a nice experience and everyone I know who has had it done and including me has got an infection . But for a bit of discomfort my partner could come off the pill so it’s a distant memory now and glad I got it done.

Totally painless had it done under a local so the biggest laugh was me and the wife shaving my balls so I could apply the enla cream under a film dressing to make the local jabs painless

The most important thing to avoid any problems is to rest in bed with regular tea beers etc for at least 24 hours

You will have nothing to worry about , its the best thing you can have done if you don't want any more children BUT if the need to want Children again with say a new partner it can be reversed .

But the only thing you have to get used to is having your bits on display in the surgery . Had mine done at a Teaching hospital and was like Rugby scrum around me as they all watched the procedure.

Was back at work the next day with no issues

I got mine done about 6 years ago.

I had it done in my late thirties.

Two things...

1) No it doesn’t hurt, although occasionally I get an itch on my right bollock from time to time.

2) Positively, it is a great thing when you are a committed relationship as you can both relax and enjoy every moment of your love life with no concerns.

As an aside, it probably (very slightly) reduces the volume - though it is hard to quantify when anyway the volume increases after abstinence and decreased with activity.

I don’t regret it at all.

If you are one one of the unlucky ones to have after effects then it’s awful, I had it done by a non english Doctor whom afterward I told I wouldn’t let him take up the hems of my trousers. He was careless which led to further problems and another operation under general 8 months later.

If you can avoid having any op then that’s the best, but do weigh up the pros and cons. It can affect your performance drastically.

I am fully recovered now but if I could turn back time I would not have had it.

Had it 11 years ago after a pregnancy scare. Op was a breeze - while the doc was digging around in my nads I was chatting up his dirty Irish nurse.

We were told to avoid sex for a week. Lasted less than a day before we had to "test" it - worked fine Normal post op after care was not a problem.

Only downside was pain in the balls sometimes after ejaculation, but that went after a few months. Well worthwhile - it meant we could bare back with each other at all times of the month without fear of babies.

No it doesn't really hurt, you're generally quite well generally aneasthatised, of course like with mine there is a risk that it has fully kicked in when they snip and that did give me a horrible dull jolt through my body but it was gone before I knew it.

As for afterwards, I suppose this is different for each case but I was not really that sore, then again I was dosing myself up quite heavily on Paracetamol and Ibuprofen so that could have really helped!

Since then though, I have experienced some aching during and after ejaculation and even before when I have been mid sex. it can be a complete fun stopper. Then there are the random aches, at random times. it may also damage your sex drive too.

I had mine done when I was 41 so 20 years ago now, I had to wear my ex’s bikini bottoms to hold all in place for a couple of days but no major pain just aching but had wank after a week and fucking not long after 6 weeks to get all clear. It made a load of difference in not having to worry especially with some couples we played with regularly so no condone etc.

however a lot less cum for me and recently had problems with testicles and first question I was asked was have you had the snip as it increases vascular problems. Nothing major and the lump I had has disappeared but you should research it

No issues at all.

When I went and did my sample post op, was kind of dicey at first. They had you in the woman's clinic at the clinic. Nothing to add except I had it, op was quick and successful with no side effects.

However, as a few replies have indicated you ARE taking a chance as the result isn't guaranteed to be trouble free; do your research and know with any surgery you're taking a risk.

I was snipped a couple of years ago now. Happy to share the experience.

I spoke to my GP, who gave me an NHS information sheet. Later, when I decided to go through with it, I made an appointment with him, and he went through a series of questions over the telephone, to establish suitability, reasons for wanting it, completed understanding of the ramifications and to check if there was any coercion involved. Happy, he then made a reversal.

A short while later (a few weeks) I got my appointment letter, which I confirmed, and then received an information pack. The procedure was done privately, on behalf of the NHS.

When you arrive for he appointment, you are taken away from anybody who is with you for a private consultation. Part of this is to ensure that there is no coercive control taking place, and you are there of your own free will. I understand this is now common practice for any life changing, elective surgery. Then you wait for your name to be called.

Once in the room, you have a consultation with the Doctor, during which you receive an examination to for things, including wether or not your tubes can be found. (Interesting side note here. You don't strip for the procedure. They leave you with your pants and trousers around your ankles. I think this is to reduce your ability to run from the room!)

Providing all is present and correct, you receive the local anaesthetic injection. You are warned that it may be uncomfortable. In reality, I'd rate the discomfort as no worse than if you were to pull a single tube from your scrotum, and of the same duration. So, nothing to be concerned about.

The procedure commences with a single tiny incision to the scrotum (In my case, near the root of the penis) through which your tubes are drawn out for cauterisation. There is a slight odour as they are cauterised and the sound of the equipment leaves you in no doubt something is happening, but there is no pain or discomfort. My Doctor kept me informed of progress as he went, and any time I looked or felt anxious, the incredibly gorgeous nurse assisting reassured me, distracted me and left me calm. Actually, the most difficult part of the whole experience was not get hard such was the level of attractiveness of the nurse. (Your experience may vary) Once done, and tubes back inside the wound is dressed and left to heal naturally without stitches. You are then taken to the recovery room. Once they are satisfied with your progress, you are sent on your way, with an after care pack and advice. They do not recommend you drive yourself to / from the procedure, and recommend a few days rest to aid healing.

So what's life like afterwards? I've noticed a significantly reduced "output" on ejacualation, although apparently prior I've been told the "output" was noticeably generous. Make of that what you will. Also, every now and then I get a faint, dull ache. There can be rare complications, but this is all explained to you before surgery. Hopefully that helps you understand the procedure.

The real questions to ask yourself are about the lived with consequences. At 40, you're still young enough to find yourself in a relationship where more kids might become desirable. You need to be cock sure of yourself not wanting, or any future partner not wanting children in the future. There is no guarantee a reversal would be successful.
