Kink Aware Counsellor Required

Hi All,

Here is a long shot.......

We are currently looking for a kink aware counsellor in the South West that has knowledge in cuckolding or polyamory.

We are in a bit of a muddle and would appreciate some professional advice.

We know this is unlikely but thought we would give it a try.

Do you need a counsellor or just a 3rd party to talk to? I think you’ll struggle to get someone who advertises this unless a fabber is so qualified...!

Thanks for the response.

No needs to be someone who has experience of this, as it’s very complicated and messy etc.

We know this is likely a lost cause but thought we would give it a try as you never know.

I just googled 'kink aware therapists" and found a webpage with lots of suggestions of how to find one. That may be helpful to you.

Hi Glitterbabe

We have looked at this avenue and if you look at the profiles of the counsellors as much as they say kink allied or kink aware their profiles suggest otherwise.

We have found what we are looking for a few times but always find the counsellor resides in the states.

We may give one of the more vanilla looking counsellors a try if this thread doesn’t pay off.

I know of a kink / poly friendly counsellor who's actually in an open relationship themselves, but they're local to the midlands and not the south west. But I'm sure there are more out there, it's just a case of doing a bit of online hunting to root them out, I guess.

Maybe there's zoom counselling available, so the proximity may not be such a hurdle?

Good point. In the current climate I think most counsellors offer online and telephone sessions, so location may not be such an issue with finding someone suitable. Obviously face-to-face is preferably for this kind of thing, but getting some form of guidance is better than no guidance at all.

Hi op,

Sorry to hear you’re having a tough time. A lot of therapy is by phone call or zoom at the moment, so I wouldn’t disregard those being suggested or that you’ve found that are in a different region.

I know that kind of therapy seems unusual, but it’s a start. And if it is for the sake of a relationship / friendship, if you have to travel a little in the future I’m sure it’d be worth it. The circumstances now mean you can actually potentially save the mileage as many therapists have had to adapt to online / zoom sessions.

Just an idea.

This was who I was going to suggest, a wonderful woman and therapist!

She regularly posts on the site that can't be mentioned but which is a helpful kink resource. She has also lead workshops at the London Alternative Market. "

Agree with the Kink Shrink suggestion.

She has a load of free resources on that site. Plus she has helped a load of friends.

Highly recommended.

Late to the party but I know the Kink Shrink has been rather busy of late so has been pointing people in the direction of The Scene Counsellor who I've known for years (and is good friends of the kink shrink... I'll happily provide contact details for either.... I suspect I also know the one in the midlands that was mentioned as well if that one is DK... I've been on the scene a long time!)

For many of us, polyamory and kink aren't hobbies, they are integral to who we are and as such our marriages. It isn't as simple as letting (or not letting them) get in the way of our marriage.
