Profile’s....

Both ours / mine are fairly long and I’ve tried to put everything in them, so as to not waste anyone’s time.

But, looking at a lot of the messages we / I receive, it’s plain to see that most people don’t read profiles

Does a long profile put you off?

no it doesn’t put us off. We read them as it’s annoying when people don’t.

No a lot of people don’t read them. Learned just to ignore them or answer if we like their profile.

The ones that put me off are:

1. Stream of consciousness things with no punctuation, or crap spelling;

2. Lists of no-nos, usually in capitals; or

3. “Will fill this in later” or similar.

As for those silly Sydney University things...

I like a profile that's obviously had some thought put into it.

And yes the Sydney university thing turns me straight off

I completely agree with the above.

Long profiles, it seems, tend to turn men off more than women!

I use this to my advantage (far fewer messages, and easier to out those who don't bother to read).

Write on, guys!

It doesn't seem to matter. Since I've updated mine to barely a few words - the amount of messages I'm receiving hasn't changed. It's clearly: "look at pictures, message. Profile? Was I supposed to read that?"

It’s your profile, you write what you want. Some people will like it, some people will skip straight past it.

If I’m honest, yes it does.

I like them to be concise (ish) and light hearted. Long winded ones (whilst informative) tend to be heavy going.

It’s when you see such a list of demands of do’s and don’t, must haves and must nots that you think wow I’m dealing with some kind up super model here.. then you look at the pictures and think differently.

Really?

You say demands, they'll say wishlist or non negotiable. Each to their own....
