I would love some make up advice, particularly about ways to give fuller lips, without looking like I put lipstick on with a catapult.

Just go for it. I mean I know its hard I still don't have it right but just go out and buy something. Some lippy and mascara. That's all I put on at first then started realising what I'd need. Then just buy and add a bit at a time. You'll never get it right but it doesn't matter sat there on your own you'll feel so sexy. So who cares.

Don’t look to much into it at the start or it will send you mental lol find a nice colour that suits you n practice putting it on properly try a lip kit as it’s easier to learn with tutorials online line will be your friend

Practice. Lip liner can be used with gentle overlining (don't do too much)

There is the classic trick of lining the lips with a lip liner, then putting lipstick, blotting it, powdering them and putting the lipstick on top again.

But I will share my own trick - behold

Instead of a lip liner and then direct application with a lipstick tube I use a lip brush and shape the contours and fill in with it. Marilyn Monroe used to use a lip brush and if it is good for Marilyn Monroe, it is good enough for me!

Also, this way it is easier to regulate the depth of colour and intensity by starting with a small amount and adding more.

The second thing I do after lipstick application is to then add lipgloss on top (either more natural or more shiny, depending on occasion and the colour of lipstick).

Voila - I haven't found a better way yet.

Those of us with a narrow top lip do struggle to get the full 'bow' effect with a lip pencil, I'll try with a brush!

This is where lipgloss on top of lipstick helps - to add that fuller effect.

Shaping can make a difference, even tiny levelling out can have a good effect. After all, our eye is predominantly drawn to symmetry.

Hi Kelly,

I would concur with others on here, whilst I hate Boots as a company, but their make up ladies are absolutely fantastic and will help you all they can.

I remember a few years ago I went into Boots at Fosse Park ... not far from you, and was in male mode, I wanted a foundation colour match. I was VERY nervous on speaking to the lady. Without so much as batting an eye, she sat me in the chair and helped me... she was sooooo reassuring. I’ve also been in to other branches as Rachel and they have always been very helpful .... but always end up coming away with something - they are very good at selling!!

I always overtime with a creamy white colour as it creates depth then line and draw small lines on to create shadow finally adding lipstick. I always considered getting my lips done but I'm now happy with them xx
