This is my pet hate on Fab when people ask for a face photo and then get blocked. We should all be polite and just say not interested...

Should we have on fab a way of putting a face photo up in a message but both parties have to for the message to be sent/received?

I just staple Hugh Jackman's headshot to my forehead; saw it in a film and it works pretty well.

I did that with Gerald Butler, but then they requested voice clips of me saying this is Sparta

Yes this is a great idea, let’s see how stuck up some of the people I see on here are then!

Why don't you put your face photo on your profile OP then you won't have this issue ? If they don't like what they see they won't reply and save you this hastle.

I agree with this statement and it would save a lot of hassle, however it’s not possible for everyone. Whilst I am not ashamed or embarrassed about my lifestyle choices, I have family to consider.

I’d like to believe that if someone local from fab recognised my picture they would be discreet. Unfortunately though there are no guarantees

Yes, I agree, too, regarding face pic on profile. I'm not worried about my family, but it's my job that I need to consider. Also, I would not like to be recognised on the street.

To the OP: I know it's still harsh but I believe it's better to be blocked after sending your face pic than to be ghosted or led to believe the meet was still going to happen at some point. Both parties can then move on. Yes, it would have been much better if, before getting blocked, a message like "Sorry, not for us" was sent, but it's much quicker and easier to just hit the block button.

I’ve got family and a high sensitive job which if my life of swinging may cause offence to some.

And yes some people are not discreet.

If it was guaranteed that a polite, thanks but no thanks as I don’t fancy you, would be taken with grace and acceptance, then yes absolutely a reply should be sent.

But unfortunately it isn’t. I sent a reply to a guy as he had a beard, my profile states I don’t like body hair (that includes beards) pointed it out that it’s on my profile so it’s a no from me. Then the abuse started with the next message, so blocked him immediately.

It’s just easier to block, than hope they’d take it the refusal the right way.

If the abuse and hassle starts then yes block them 100%

But it’s the openness of sending a photo when requested too and then they block you without a reply, even when you spoken for a while.

"

Absolutely not. I don’t send a face pic until I’ve seen one because a) I want to know I don’t know them; and b) I want to know if I find them attractive. I don’t see the point in sending one to someone I don’t fancy, especially if there’s a risk I might ever bump into them somewhere. I don’t want to be recognised and potentially harassed by someone I’ve rejected.

Have you considered that they see your face and realise they know you and want to save embarrassment?

The way to solve that is don’t speak for ages before sending a face pic. Think of it the other way around - if you’ve been talking for a while and you think it’s going well, but then you see a face pic and you don’t fancy them, it’s so much more awkward to say thanks but no thanks at that point.

They are saying they're not interested. I know it's horrible to be blocked after sending a face picture. It's happened to us, we've been ghosted, we sent face pics and the guy immediately deleted his profile, we've turned up to find the pictures sent were very old etc. However we're realistic, we know the reality of fab and adjust our expectations accordingly. So, we never send a face picture unless a meet is definitely on the cards and we never respond to "face pic with first message" requests. In an ideal world everyone would respond respectfully and take rejection gracefully but as we all know the world is far from ideal.

Single guys have it hard on this site, so can understand the frustration, this is why this site is just a small part of the scene. Going to socials or clubs (when they reopen) is easier and most of were I’ve actually met people and played. A photo is never actually a great representation of the person, some people are more photogenic than others. So in reality they can look better than their photo (in some cases a lot worse ).

Hope things improve Op

If people engage with you before seeing your face first then it's something you will just have to deal with... My face is usually on my profile, when it's not hidden amd always when I am actively seeking playmates... That way they know if they are attracted or not before messaging... I don't engage with people that tell me they want to meet me if I can't see their face and definitely not if they can't see mine.

Wirral.

Some comments on this thread are a bit much. Assuming people are stuck up because they don't find you attractive?

My face pic is up, so I think it only fair that I ask for one in your first message (I've learnt the hard way about chatting for ages before seeing a face pic).

I always reply to polite messages with a face pic who meet my criteria, ie non smoker, straight, tall, local ish, with a polite you're not for me. But the number who come back with "but why" or just abuse me gets on my tits. I fully understand women who just block.

Now it depends on what mood I'm in whether I reply.

Also, if I was thinking of a life partner, then looks would not be as important as compattability. But as it's for no strings fun, sexual attraction comes to the fore.
