Pics for friends only

My profile pic I keep for friends only though when I send people a message I attach it to that.

Reason is having a semi-public job I don't really want anyone random being able to find my pic & profile.

I usually explain this in messages to people but was wondering if that was an OK position to have or if it was putting people off.

Free to do what you want

If someone doesn't like it that is his problem. In fact you dont need to explain why you not displaying your picture

Then again if you got noboby contacting you or meeting you dont complain about it

I think a number of us do exactly what you do - and for broadly similar reasons.

It's your profile, your photos - so you get to choose... Simples.

Only do what you feel comfortable and happy with. It's your profile and your choice.

But yes, having no photos displayed will put some people off. It will also stop you being able to contact some profiles (I think that is right? but often get things wrong )

Yep.. You can choose to filter people with no "public" photos

My gut feel is that as a single guy you'll get most of your meets via messages that you've initiated. As you're sending your pic with those messages, then recipients will have a feel for you, and your attractiveness to them.

You could consider having a greater variety of photos, some of which wouldn't be too revealing, leading to potential identification etc, and possibly at least one as a public pic. Few people who know you would likely know how your - insert random body aspect here - looks, but this would at least provide some reference point for others to gauge their interest in you.

You can leave your profile off from google etc, so that images wouldn't be out there.

Thanks all. Not complaining about no replies but was just trying to get a feel for how much of a disadvantage I was putting myself under

Closer than you think

Same here; I keep my face pic for friends only although I'm happy to send with a message for anyone who asks nicely. It doesn't seem to have affected my ability to get meets... by which I mean I get them and not the opposite before anyone asks.
