Wat do u fink of txt spk?

Personally, if I receive a message or see a profile that is full of 'text speak' I find it a real turn off!! It's enough for me to block or delete. What do you guys think?

Iz it cuz I ain't cwl enuff?

Yep, infuriates the shit out of us too. It's an auto-block for us. Maybe if the people who use text speak on here, put a little more effort in to typing a grammatically correct, correctly spelt profile they may have greater success rate. To us, if you can't be bothered to spend time typing the full word, then we think you will have the same approach to any meeting ie; talk complete gibberish, put no effort in and reach the end too quickly.

P.S I like this being an 'old fuddy duddy' malarky, it's fun.

Wow things have certainly changed!

We posted a similar thing a few weeks ago and we were absolutely hammered for it.

We were accused of discriminating against dyslexics and people with learning difficulties!

Never let it be said the forum is consistent lol

Good for u sugar. I cant. Maybe u dont hav an ancient nokia. Maybe yr a genius. I dunno. Im sick of this ova and ova as if we r second class fab citizens. I think class mite be the real issue r u lot really saying i dont want anyone chavy and blockin texty ppl to this end? In which case good as i dont fuk posh ppl

I use a few abbreviations of the lol style of thing, but it does grate on me and I have a friend same age as me whose texts take me about 10 minutes to decipher which I bloody well h8 (!) With regards to the poster commenting about using phones I can't type as fast on my phone but still will type mostly as I do on the lappie and certainly not in txtspk....in summary a text speak type profile or message is highly unlikely to get much of a response from me unless the pictures show it's James and Ola Jordan off Strictly Come Dancing

Awful,absolutely hate it as I do the following too:

1. Saying innit

2. Saying "like" after every other word in a sentence.

3. Saying "know what I mean?" after every sentence.

4. Saying "right" after every other word

5. Excessive swearing

Oh no! I am sounding like my Dad now, yikes!!

Yes we find it very offputting. One of us is mildly dyslexic which can lead to a boo boo. Predictatext too drops the odd bollock. Text speak just looks fucking stupid.

Being grammatically correct, doesn't make a person posh. It's the English language we are talking about, you know, the one Welsh people speak now as the Welsh language was difficult even for Welsh people to type and speak. As for 'class', you text typists are not considered second class. It's a choice we make on what we do or do not like that is all. We consider it lazy, uneducated and rude to type in text speak, so therefore we don't meet or converse with such people.

i couldnt give a crap tbh. I have spent 3 years at uni constantly writing essays so I know how to write 'properly' but when i text, or write emails, chat on here, fb etc i dont really pay attention because its not formal. missed spellings happen to me alot coz i type too fast n dnt press the buttons properly and then dnt check before sending lol cudnt care less if people dnt like it if they dnt then they not for me as to me seems pretty stuck up. didnt realise we were gonna have exams on here

Its a personal choice, some like it some don't.

I hate it but it's useful too, it speaks volumes about the sender and so enables me to rule them out them straight away.
