I think you have to decide whether your relationship or this lifestyle is more important.

I wouldn't discuss it with someone from the vanilla world, as some find the lifestyle distasteful.

In my opinion they need to accept every part of you. that includes this. But everybody is different and it depends if you feel that you are a lifestyle swinger (or as some people do possibly) using this for a stop gap in between relationships.
