Sterilizing isn't essential, as the toys won't remain in a sterile environment (unless you plan to autoclave and directly encase in sterile wrapping?). Wash thoroughly in hot soapy water (if the toy is washable) and spray with toy cleaner (available online or in shops), follow directions on packaging.

I got all hopeful!

I thought it said 'sterilising torys'

I'd vote for that

I wouldn't use Dettol.

I wash mine in hot soapy water, rinse well and air dry. I never use anything like toy cleaning spray because it gives me BV and I wonder if it might irritate a man's urethra under certain circumstances.

Oooh I never would have thought of toy cleaner and BV! I know about the use of sex toys in general can increase the chances but never would have thought of the cleaner itself

the stuff you don't rinse off can cause problems. I use anti bacterial soap and rinse thoroughly

We have stopped using toy cleaner and just use anti bacterial soap to clean any toys now. Not had any issues yet and been doing this for a few months now.

That is interesting as the only time I have had BV is after using a toy on a meet... .

IPA, don't confuse it for India Pale Ale, as this will be a waste. The alcohol content will be around 5% not te required 65%+.

Hot soapy water is enough especially if your not going to use them straight away.

But wash again before play and wipe with steri wipes.

Theres always a risk with toys like that anyway.

Considered risky play.

“VWP” - If it’s good enough for my home brew then it’s good enough for her toys

Alternatively Anne Summers do good antibacterial wipes.

Anything that can goes through my dishwasher (toys only, no dishes), everything else gets sprayed and wiped with antibacterial spray and wipes.

I am assuming the advice is in regard to items to be used solely on one person. If items are to be used on other people or exposed to another's bodily fluids the general advice (as I understand it from the kink world) is not to share unless it can fit into a condom. I read that anti bac post sex wipes and sprays are not 100% effective so best to BYO. In the rope world if rope is going to touch private parts you only use that rope with one person or use plastic rope that can be thrown on the washing machine with sanitizer of your choice.
