Grrrr, i derive an individual and quirky message to who takes my fancy, and id say 60% of them just get deleted, any tips?

you say they take your fancy but are you making sure they are looking for somebody like you ?

I recieve a lot if really nice messages but you can see that 99% of the people who have sent me the messages have not read a single word of my profile

just make sure you read every word of there profile and only send a message if you are sure they would be happy getting an email from you

Don't take it to heart is my first few words of advice.

Women and couples get so much mail, most find it hard to keep up, especially those that hold down jobs and have a family.

When we first started, we got so much interest but tried to reply to everybody.... but found that some responses (mainly polite "no thank you's") were met with abuse or "why not?". It was very frustrating and time consuming

...we much preferred to use our time conversing with friends and potential meets ....not having to explain why we aren't interested in someone.

Keep slogging away ...there's someone for everyone out there

alot of people will look at your profile way before looking at any message of yours, this is where having a great profile with good pics like face pics on show help you out alot , much more than sending privatley, as often your message might not even get read otherwise

For me personally i get a lot of mail where its obvious people have not read the profile.

Having said that if i get a polite mail i do try to respond and say "no thanka".

To be fair it does take a lot of the day if the mailbox is busy.

exactly and if you decided to phone up someone who junk mails you to say no please stop messaging, theres a good chance they will try to objection handle you and still try to get a sale out of you! this aint no different

The comments here are the best side of the forum-funny, thoughtful, helpful-brill! The OP needs to remember that even with the best will in the World, no-one likes a whinger or someone who is too negative, especially in a place like this, where it is about having fun. This could also be a turn-off and not helping to show your best side.

Couples and ladies have much choice, and any male needs to stand out-just the way it is. You may want ask how you can stand out from the many messages you interests get.

In my experience about 50% of my messages get deleted, 40% read but not replied to, 6% polite refusal 4% get chatting and maybe meet. I always read the profile first and don't message if I'm outwith their age range or any other preferences. It's just the way it goes.

I'm not complaining btw, cos that 4% are cracking people! :D

Women and couples get loads of mail -it's a well-known fact. I tried to say a polite 'no thank you' to every single one, but it only spurred a lot of them on to send further messages which always tried to get me to chat with them! I couldn't do right for doing wrong here so now I just don't always reply.

I currently have 93 unread messages in my inbox, I physically cannot get to some of them. Don't be disheartened. Single women get a lot of messages - if you're getting replies, meets etc then keep at it.

I've deleted messages sent and received just so we can keep an eye on read messages etc and have been accused of having sly chats and being up to no good by said receiver of messages , is this not a swinging site for all to have fun ?

We can't say how others are going to perceive the messages that you've sent them, so it's hard to comment. You say they're 'quirky', which sounds light hearted, but it's probably a tough one to be able to gauge someone else's humourous tastes etc.

Definitely your profile needs a wider selection of photos. The one that's up shows almost nothing of you, and people will by and large not send messages asking to see a single guy - make your profile have high impact, and be explicit about what you really have to offer and want from others.

Deleting messages is essential on Fab, as inboxes are so limited for space, and managing those that you want to keep track of etc, is important for many of us. As others say, it's all about the profile, then the message that's being sent, subject to it being targeted at the right people, who also need to want you in the foreseeable future. People have commitments, their needs change, but their profile may not reflect this.

With family life, holidays, work and social lives all competing for attention, not to mention other swinging commitments, then it's a tough call.

It's great that 40% of your messages are being read - I think that's successful! If you could copy some of your messages on the forum, we can critique them - obviously we can't know to whom they were addressed, or how relevant they were, but it may help, if we give feedback on how we think they're good etc, as an introduction.
