Despite having a profile which very clearly state my preferences and the type of person I am looking for, I often get messages from people (and sorry but it is mainly guys) who have either not looked at my profile or have chosen to ignore what I have put.

In the past I have just ignored these messages and deleted them. This has resulted in getting a second message ranging from informing me I am ignorant to being told I obviously think I am something special.

I am by nature a friendly, polite and chatty person so I usually respond to these messages with a simple 'No Thanks'. This has resulted in messages thanking me for getting back to them but I have also had ones telling me I am harsh, demanding to know why and even being told I should be grateful for the offer as I clearly can't get it anywhere else.

It would seem whatever approach you choose to take you just can't win.

So what is the best approach to take? Do you give a polite no thanks or do you just ignore it?

Just interested in what others do.

Maybe you could as I have seen on other profiles state a non reply means no interest. Some wont read profile but the fact they ask why you haven't respond proves that they either didn't read or chose to ignore. Either way you have every right to them block if you choose as some do, me included those who send a second message after a no thank you. I block those I feel don't respect my choices and are pushy and either not reading or ignore a profile to me shows either or both of these. Some may not agree but its my profile and I choose how to 'run' it just like you choose who you wish to respond to and how. Theres no right or wrong as long with the exception of being abusive though some men's messages may be an exception to that rule

i have had this too.guys think we will fuck anything and because im not attracted to them they ask why, sorry but im not attracted to everyone and when you slag me off and say "i should think myself lucky anyone would fuck me", you definately get blocked!!

there has to be some attraction there.

WE always reply with the following:

"Thankyou for your interest, however we are not interested on this occasion, but may bear you in mind for future possible meeting"

Works for us and touch wood, only had one single guy reply with 'fuck you, i aint deperate anyway'...lol

Its why majority of single guys are, errrm SINGLE!...lol

WE always reply with the following:

Never felt the need to reply in an abusive manner . A polite reply always works with me .

My profile states I will delete and block if I don't receive a joke and a pic and that is what I do....those that send joke/pic get thanks but no thanks if they're not my type and I've yet to have an abusive message back (have had a couple of thanks for responding) and that's the end of the convo....block button is a help if you're having probs, maybe even say in your profile that if you're not interested, you'll respond with a thanks and then block - saves each party when you're looking again

i think reading profiles is something alot dont do

we used to say put nik is hot in subject.about 1 in5 did.we just blocked them

we just dont reply if not interested.i havent asked for them to message,especially the ones that obviously havent read the type we look for

Personally, I don't understand why prople let anonymous strangers bother them. I have on my profile if they don't meet what I'm looking for I won't reply. I'm not bothered what people think who can't read!

Every now and then I get a message from someone the polar opposite to what I'm looking for I have to reply. It's usually "I'm curious, truly I am. Could you kindly tell me, when you read my profile and saw the bit that said single, tall, straight, local, sub, that can accommodate, you being a married, bi, midget, Dom, living in Bristol unable to accommodate, what made you think hmmmm, she doesn't mean me, that just applies to the other fellas"?

Sometimes they get a polite no thanks, other times its just a delete and occasionally the block button gets ticked aswell. It all depends on how we feel at the time and how blatently obvious it is they haven't read our profile.

The way we look at it is if they haven't bothered to read our profile, why should we waste our time replying?

However, how you deal with it is up to you and no one should challenge you on your choices. If you want to reply with a polite no thanks then do so. If you want to just delete then thats fine too.

Nothing says "not interested" more clearly than no reply and a deleted message.

I get second ones from those that are too far from me i.e. over the hour drive, I just ignore them in the end and delete messages, they stop messaging then but I have never got anything like you have when I have said no thanks

I just do t get their reasoning behind this. If I send someone a message and they don't reply then I don't send them another one as its obvious that they're not interested. What do they think sending follow up messages is ginna achieve? They've ignored you for a reason, they're not going to suddenly think "Oh hang on a minute, I wasn't interested before but now I know that he or she is bordering on Psychotic, perhaps I have been too hasty and should fuck 'em"

Complete tools, block 'em immediately, says too many scary things about their personality not to in my eyes

I have to say there are guys I have said no thank you to and they have taken it really well and will still send me the odd message asking how I am and just general chat. I am always very clear, with guys who don't match my preferences, that it will never be more then chat and I do have very respectful conversations/banter with them.

if someone has looked at my profile i often just send a message saying thank you for taking the time to do so.

manners cost nothing but if your having a real problem dealing with it then only you can decide the best cause of action to take.

i wish you good luck with whatever you do.

I think its polite to reply i always read the profiles of who im msg to. And being single and 49 its the only excitment i get when i get mail lol.

If someone ever messages me back in an abusive manner, I just think thank fuck I did not bother to get to know them or play with them in the first place.

Some days I will message back if I have time. Other days I do not, as I simply do not have the time to be a secretarty and answer aload of mail.

after being ignored most of the time we have decided to adopt the same attitude to the very few who do mail us unless we like the look of there profile
