It's pretty common with SSRIs. For me there was no loss of desire but initially I found it really difficult to cum.

After a while, that resolved but my orgasms were different than before. I described them as more like many waves lapping on the beach rather than one big crashing breaker. Every cloud though...the reduced sensitivity has allowed me to have multiple orgasms and as long as E keeps going then I'll keep cumming. I almost prefer the way things are now but at the start I felt a bit despondent about it

Never thought at time, but sex was OK, the ability to cum was difficult. You could build almost to it then it would just disappear. Only after coming off them normal function returned and cumming was not a problem.

I'm on chlorpromazine and fluxotine.

For 2 years Cumming was a struggle. So cut down on the anti depressant and things 80% better now.

It was good lasting longer in sex but when I wanted a quick wank was awful.

Yep. My libido did drop massively and as mentioned cumming was difficult. But my sex drive is coming back gradually. Hope to have some fun when Miss has a few days off.

There are so many meds out there, talk to doc if it's an issue for you (it isn't for everyone) and ask to try something else. A lot of meds don't have sexual side effects, or may affect you differently.

I found my sex drive went through the roof when i used them, but was nearly impossible to cum

I was on sertraline and couldn't cum during sex but couldn't cum when I wanked. I barely had any sexual intrest. Little better on venlafaxine.

I am the odd one when my depression hits I get hornier. Not many see that. I think I have borderline personality disorder

Libidowise, I control that myself so it hasn’t made a difference to me but it has made it harder to orgasm but that is one of the 1 in 10 people will get this side effects list

Antidepressants generally have this effect. My ex had this problem, wasn't interested in having sex at all

This kind of thread reminds me why I read Fab forums. For all the sniping,there are honest discussions you would see nowhere else.

Op - statistically the meds have an impact in this way. The fact that you are on this site means you probably have greater awareness of your libido and performance than avg vanilla Joe they tested. Enjoy the different perspective (freedom?) of not seeking, doing and worrying about sex for a bit. And bear in mind any naughty thoughts that *do* get through now, will probably set your underpants on fire when you are back and running again.

Some antidepressants, particularly SSRIs, can have this effect. Whether it's temporary, through the course of taking the medication, or even longer lasting depends on the individual.

If you're suffering beyond the point where you're tapering onto the medication, and you feel it makes taking the medication less worthwhile, you should speak to your GP about alternatives.

Its a nightmare as is most anti depressants, i should know ive tried most. Im on sertraline now which isnt too bad but not sure if some of its in the mind now its been that long as a struggle.

Theres always the little blue pills that may help if its a big issue.

Sertraline was bad for me. Have you tried Fluxotine there wer a bit better for libido

Did that to me as well, non-wanking dead. The psychiatrist said it was deliberate, didn't want sex getting in the way of relieving the depression. it doesn't do your dopamine level any good either.

The sudden drop has been the crazy thing, really.

Going from a libido that is bordering on tormenting, every day from the age of 12 onwards to near zero in a few weeks has been quite the journey and I'm still undecided whether it's an appalling negative or a positive that has finally allowed some clarity in my life.

I can't say that lust hasn't led me to some bad decisions and even some element of risk in the past (and more recently, too ).

But, as another poster said, the feeling of being an emotional zombie, rumbling along without much sparkle (but without the dreadful, mind crushing lows),is quite dulling . An absence of feeling, of emotion.

Hey ho, mustn't grumble, still safe and healthy
