FabSwingers.com forum: Should fab stop new people joining?

Wondering if joining the site should be restricted until after lockdown/when the world goes back to normal. I've seen a massive increase in new members these past couple of weeks, most of which aren't photo verified and probably don't intend to be. I have had lots of messages from blank profiles, obviously looking for a chat while they wank and loads of them are advertising meets on their status which makes my blood boil!

I know everyone was a newbie once but would it not make sense to restrict for now?

Welcome to the forums!!!!

Let them all join and why not just set your filters to block the ones of no interest to you.

Fab is fab and was a crazy place before Covid and is crazy during Covid and no doubt it will be crazy place when the brave new world comes!!!!

I don't think you need to concern yourself with use. If you report someone all that admin do is block you and them from each other so perhaps just make a filter or use block more.

I've reported several people once they've made it clear they still want to meet before lockdown is over, even after I've explained the rules to them. They're probably the same lot who don't give a thought about bring STI's home to the wife, mixed with those who only ever arranged fantasy meets that they never seriously planned to attend, anyway.

There's been a mixed response from the site. Some have been removed but others are still here. But they definitely remove some people.

I suspect at least some of the noobs are those same people coming back with new accounts. Let's face it, they have nothing to lose being banned from the site unless they have meet verifications or paid membership. They just bounce back the same day with a new profile, just like the "UNLOS after orgasm" crowd do when the horn comes back.

Set your message filters so that you can't receive mail from new members, you could also filter out non site supporters too if you want. I will post how admin deal with reports in my next post.

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

Admin

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******

I have filters on - my main concern is that the newbies could be underage and we have no way of knowing until verified via cam or photo..... X

There's been a mixed response from the site. Some have been removed but others are still here. But they definitely remove some people.

Oh it's so frustrating isn't it?! I do seem to see similar new profiles day after day and I'm wondering if it's people getting banned like you say and then just bouncing back again.

And its shocking that there's people that don't care about their health or other peoples. Some idiots really have their brains in their genitals x

Thank you, I do have filters on but there are still sneaky people that have a couple of fake accounts to verify each other and they worm their way into my inbox that way

No. The site depends on the volume of users, including some who will pay too. If you miss someone when they visit you, you may never get them to return

Better to use tools to educate and constrain them.

We joined a couple of weeks before lockdown and are enjoying getting to know people on here through messaging until life gets back to normal.

We aren't verified because we can't meet and we can't cam either as we have two boys at home 24/7 and can't be uninhibited. We are using this time to get to know people, learn about swinging and prepare for the time in the future when we can safely begin our swinging lifestyle.

I imagine there may be many couples locked down together now who are evaluating about their relationships and what they might want to do going forward. If that involves swinging, I certainly wouldn't discourage them from exploring their curiosity through this site. So I would say no, don't block new members. But I do agree that they ought to have a profile photo and should not even be hinting at suggesting a meet until things change.

We've had some great chats with people on here who we really hope to meet when all this is over.

I've been here, I think, going on over 10 years. Over that time what I have been looking for has changed, my sexuality is fluid.

I also don't push for verifications as if I'm inclined to meet, it's almost always at a club and very rarely planned in advance.

I get told I'm fake several times a day cause I won't instantly drop my knickers to the men that message me.

Am I fake because I'm not some walking sexual fetish vending machine?

The fakes are the ones using stolen pictures, profiling as something they're not (a couple when they're single, or female when they're male) or who arrange meets for the fantasy of meeting, without the courage to go through with it. They're also the ones who've begged meet verifications from people they haven't actually met.

There would need to be a structure and logic to looking at profiles and deciding if they looked fake and taking further action...ultimately the decision would reside with the people running the site...it wouldn't be based on one person's accusation...

The same applies to decision on abusive behaviour tho that would seem very easy to resolve in the cases you hear people post...they would just need to look at the message thread between the plaintiff and the accused..

Ah yes. Some guys (I don't have much experience with women, so won't comment) have a massive sense of entitlement in this game. They assume they're the only ones taking an interest in you. They assume they're worthy of your attention. I just hope this place never goes like Badoo, where the messenger includes a video call option that you can't disable. I give them 3 strikes trying to use that. They get a warning after the second and blocked after the third. I find it incredibly presumptuous of them to demand my undivided attention exactly when they want it. It doesn't work like that. I'm often having multiple conversations via text, and I'd have to drop all of those.

Just a suggestion, but perhaps take a verification photo to publish: similar to the ones you already have, but holding up a handwritten sign with your user name on it. Presumably when confronted with a pair of breasts and a handwritten user name, they can no longer accuse you of being a man with some stolen pictures.

Not that you should give in to these people. But if you wanted a means to prove them wrong without giving them what they want, that could be it.

Reducing the quantity isn't going to improve the quality. The idiot to decent ratio will probably remain much the same. Good people will be excluded as well as bad. It'll also make the fakery worse, with single males signing up as other categories to avoid the restrictions.

A waiting period before you can fully participate might do something about the "UNLOS after orgasm, sign up again 5 minutes later" crowd. I suppose the newbie filter does that, to a degree.

It would be nice if you could have more complex messaging rules though, e.g. set it so that all couples can message you, but singles only can if they're site supporters. I'm inclined to take someone who's put money into the site (even if it's only a fiver) a lot more seriously than people who haven't. The furtive fantasy crowd are typically hiding behind anonymity and don't like to leave any sort of paper trail that the wife might pick up on.

Nah, I'm not sure how that would help when I've got 3 published verifications from actual physical meets.

There is no point in arguing with them, just block and move on.

I agree, with the majority, no one should be meeting right now, but that doesnt stop people chatting and making plans for the future.if there newbies or been here for years.

If they anounced lockdown was over tomorrow, would everyone be safer, would it then be ok to meet. Theres still no cure. I think its going to be a very long time, when its trully OK to meet.

I don’t like the site supporter thing. If you’re not getting meets, it feels like you’re wasting your money. As a single guy, I know how tough it is, even if you have a bio and pics. Yeah, you get some people who even put about cheating on their bio and I could never do it. Not fair on the other person

I get the irony but I also understand it’s a problem, which is why I don’t spam message people the same message but instead read their profiles and don’t get mad if they don’t reply cos I get how many they get. I tried to put some effort in my bio and pics

It's not hard to spot the ones that are here for the wrong reasons as they all usually show the same traits, Just block them and enjoy the site for what it's intended for as there are plenty of actual swingers here. Use this time to build friendships with the genuine people
