I was silent for a moment and glanced at Sue and Mike before I replied, "that would be nice, but I would want Mike to agree." I looked in Mike's direction for a response.
It looked as if Mike had also been surprised by Sam's suggestion, "erm, well it is unusual, but yes I can agree to that."
"Thank you, Mike." It was Sue who replied and as she did her leg rubbed against mine under the table.
Sam then added to the tension, or was it excitement in the room, "You haven't asked Sue yet, have you, Phil?"
"I guess not," then turning to Sue, I said, "Sue, would you like to go away with me for a walking holiday?"
"That would be lovely, Phil, yes I would."
I was a little embarrassed, but Sue smiled. The conversation went quiet then for a while, but of course, it was Sam who got things going again.
"So where will you go then?"
"Not sure yet, but maybe the Peak District, and book a cottage to stay in." Sue smiled at that idea.
"Very romantic," Sam replied.
Sue then picked on an interesting point, "What will you two do while we are away?"
"Good point," Sam answered, "Well I guess Mike and I could get together and go out for a meal, or go to the cinema, or maybe I will cook for us here, or if he doesn't want to do anything like that perhaps we will just spend time on our own. Think about it, Mike."
Mike nodded, still thinking, no doubt, that this was the oddest conversation he had ever been a part of. After another quiet moment or two, the conversation turned to more mundane topics.
An hour later, Sue and Mike left to go back to their house.
"Sam you're so nice about all this, including suggesting we go away together, what are you up to?"
"I'm not up to anything, Phil; I just want you to be happy. I have never fancied one of your going away walking in the country holidays, as you know, so as you and Sue both enjoy walking, I was just helping you out by making the suggestion."
"So your not planning some sort of nasty revenge, like clearing the house out while I'm away with Sue?"
"Don't give me ideas!" She smiled, "Phil, you should know me well enough by now that I'm not a revengeful person, I honestly want you, with Sue, to be happy."
Sue then leaned over and kissed me.
Since our affair had become known to our partners, Sue and I had tried not to spend too much time texting each other, while our partners were around, but the next day several messages were flying about.
When we met again on Monday morning and as soon as Sue opened the door, she lept into my arms, hugging and kissing me.
"I still can't believe Sam and Mike are letting us go away."
"No, me neither. Let's make the most of it."
We didn't walk that day but planned our holiday. We settled for a long weekend in the Peak District and found a lovely modern 'cottage' to stay in.
A month later, we went away. We travelled on Thursday, staying four nights, and it was wonderful. We must have spent most of the time we were out holding hands, and much of the time we were in the cottage was spent making love and fucking. We did fuck outdoors on one walk. In the evenings We would go to a pub to eat, and everyone would have thought we were very much in love, and we were, they wouldn't know that the wedding rings we wore, were for our marriages to other partners.
On the way home, on Monday, we talked more about our future.
"Whatever happens at home Sue, I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. The trouble is, I don't want to hurt Sam, so even if its only part time as far as I'm concerned we are a couple."
"Aww, thank you, Phil. I feel the same, and I just hope that somehow we can spend more time together," then she changed tack, slightly, "I wonder what Mike and Sam have been up to this weekend?"
"Oh yes, now that is a thought. You don't think they might get together, do you?"
"It's possible, they are very alike in many respects, but I think it would have to be Sam that makes any move. Mike would never make a move on her, even though he has always said she is an attractive woman."
"Has he?"
"Oh, yes. Even before we knew you, he told me how attractive he thought Sam was."
"That's what I thought of you too."
It was a shame to part when we got home, and it was strange to see Sam when she got back from work. She kissed me and asked if we had a good time, and I told her we did.
Later I asked what she had done over the weekend, and she told me that she and Mike had gone out for a meal on Friday night, but apart from that, she didn't say much.
Mike told Sue much the same.
Sam planned another dinner party the next weekend.
I spoke to Sue about it and taking into account the last couple of parties we wondered if Sam would be making a suggestion again, which would help our relationship as with the holiday. |
