Banged Up!- Story behind the event...

Hi everyone!

As with the last immersive event done and as it's only 3-4 weeks away, thought I'd include a bit of the fascinating backstory created behind it... Bearing this in mind it is a slow-burner, so if anyone is after perusing this forum for "inspiration" whilst they've stole 10 minutes from their lunch-break to sneak off to the bogs and deal with some demons in private this may not be the best tale to take care of the necessaries to? Just a disclaimer!

Anyway to begin...

The solid steel door slammed shut hard behind her and Cheryl Peach was left to finally have the time to reflect upon the events of the recent past that had led her to be seated here, in this armoured prisoner transport vehicle, on her way to serve her sentence.

True, the time she had been remanded in custody had seemed like an age each overnight between trial days, for when one is in a confined area with nothing to do time tends to stretch... 'That's why they call the time I'm about to start inside a stretch' she thought ruefully. But all that time she had also thought, in fact no, BELIEVED, that this whole circus was going to come to an end once this farce of a trial was over and dismiss it as merely an unpleasant experience in her life, yet one that could be suffered for what she believed in.

The time not spent in custody had seemed by contrast to have been an almost surreally fast blur by comparison. She had been charged with gross vandalism and willful property damage and there was no questioning her guilt; she had after all been caught as red-handed as a strawberry picker with acute sunburn, the local constabulary showing up to see her standing proudly upon the lawn of the Animal Testing Facility, a couple of the Chimpanzees she had set free ambling quickly and excitedly around behind her in the facility's car park, the other animals having long scarpered, away from the blazing justice she had inflicted upon it.

But the police officers hadn't just caught her at the scene of the crime, the clear absence of any beast within painting a clear picture of her breaking and entering, oh no. They approached her seeing the entire West side of the long single-story structure in flame, property and equipment damage running into the hundreds of thousands which would pretty soon be millions if the local fire brigade didn't put in an appearance sharpish? And just to present as clearly open and shut a case that a serving police officer could possibly be presented with they reached her to find her standing legs akimbo, her diminutive frame drawn up proudly to it's full almost 5 feet tall, the burning building against the ink-black sky illuminating a look of triumph on her face and yet another homemade molotov cocktail and a lighter held in her eager little mitts...

Throw away the key Officer!

But she had two objectives in mind with her actions; Firstly she wanted the Testing Lab razed to the ground, a smouldering black ruin which seemed right and fitting for such a horrible establishment and Secondly she wanted the storm of publicity that would doubtless follow to highlight this often secretive in these modern times process, put it in the public eye and turn the moral compass of Joe Public against it. Public opinion when vocal enough could reduce anything to ruins after all, Cheryl knew this.

Of course her first objective was achieved. And on the face of it, it appeared that her second was too; the local and national press descended upon the story in droves, in two camps either backing the facility as it was deemed that animal testing would in the long run save human lives due to safer products, or condemning it as a barbaric practice in the supposedly enlightened 21st Century that we all lived in. And the majority of the journalists seemed to argue the latter as Cheryl had guessed correctly that they would. They presented her as something of a champion of that cause which was nice, but more importantly which, once public opinion united behind her and leaned against the CPS and Justice system to offer her an extremely light or even non-custodial sentence, would give her the platform on which to stand and offer her views on this disgraceful industry that should long ago have gone the way of such archaic practices as bear-baiting in the UK. Oh, and she'd be heard! She'd make damned sure of that and as a result over time these wretched attrocities would be forced to stop!

Mission Complete!

But Cheryl realised she had reckoned without one thing; pure bad luck. She had been so focussed upon her goal that she hadn't even remotely considered the actual factors inside the court itself. She had spoke passionately and forcefully inside the courtroom about her views, her cause and her methods, some would say too passionately, with candid fierceness and certainly a low amount of tact. The judge was a fellow of around 80 who was past the age of embracing even the Flower Power generation in his youth and what is more had had as much of a No Nonsense conservative upbringing as possible. The Jury looked like it was composed in the main by those who believed staunchly in Authority and were keen readers of the Daily Mail. The Prosecutor did her job extremely well, whilst her defending cousel was led by a 26 year old with a slight stutter who looked far too young and alternative in their eyes for the gravity of the court...

And so whilst she fully expected the guilty verdict, she did not expect the sentence. 4 years, 2 with good behaviour, which she knew full well she wasn't typically good at. Not that she was a bad person, the opposite in fact! But she did have a tendancy to leap in feet first and screw the consequences if she perceived something happening that her conscience didn't agree with... And worse still she reckoned, in 2-4 years time, this trial would be a long-distant memory in the public eye. No soapbox for her to stand on and unite the public behind her to rid the country of this unsavoury practise once and for all...Oh no, the old bastard sat glaring through his bifocals at her in his judge's robes had kicked that away pretty well, she thought bitterly....

And now here she was, bumping down the road towards what "society", or rather the in her mind skewed representatives of it had decided she deserved! And bumping down the road was right, if the Powers That Be had spent slightly less on the ridiculously tight security measures of this vehicle and slightly more on the suspension or even cushioning in her seat then this would surely make the transfer more palatable?

She considered her destination; the "Sheffield Mandatory" Correctional Facility. Just what kind of a name for a prison was that? It was certainly not one she had ever heard of and the brief moments of conversation she got with her defence counsel before being sped away to her fate so the good people of the court could enjoy lunch had revealed little else; her lawyer didn't know anything about it either and had not had to visit a client in there yet, all he had heard was that it was a small facility where they tended to send the most rebellious kind of prisoner to be re-integrated? Other than that the whole place was shrouded in mystery...

Well, she'd find out soon enough, she reasoned. And that time seemed to be coming sooner than she anticipated, for already her transport seemed to be making turns more frequently and at lower speeds which indicated that her travel by motorway/dual carriageway was over. She braced her hands against the white-painted steel wall behind her at a particularly sharp turn and then felt the vehicle come to a halt. Traffic lights? Then another sensation; the unmistakable jolt that told her it was reversing.... She was THERE...

The vehicle came to a complete halt, the thrum of the engine being killed. And what seemed like moments later the heavy door in the rear was yanked firmly open, the familiar face of the transport officer appearing business-like and emotionless. "Time to say Hello to your new home, Peach" he said simply and it was clear that she didn't have a choice on this occasion so she rose and made her way down the few steps that took her through the doorway carefully maintaining her balance, it was amazing how having cuffs upon one's wrists made one take more care upon the simplest of tasks she reflected and not for the first time. She looked up at the building in front of her, dark brick-built and slightly foreboding in it's air... Little in the way of windows, not surprising considering. But an illogical impulse suddenly struck her and she wondered briefly where the hell it had come from; 'Was this to shut those inside off from the outside world? Or to prevent the outside world observing what was happening to those inside...?' Completely illogical thoughts to have yes, and she dusmissed them instantly. But she still gave an involuntary shudder as the stern-looking transport officer pressed the bell-push mounted by the huge unbreakable looking wooden door set into the wall in front of them. Taking in her surroundings she saw that they were in a gated, high-walled courtyard. No chance of escape, though to tell the truth living her life as a fugitive didn't really appeal to her anyway.

Moments passed and then the with a loud clunking the door was unlocked from the inside and swung open inwards...

The Transport Official beside her hustled her inside what turned out to be a tiled hallway and followed, guiding her down the short passage. The identity of the person who had opened the door would forever be a mystery to her as they were concealed behind it as she entered; she heard the clunk of it being firmly shut behind her and realised once the daylight had been shut back out how dim it was in here... They reached a smaller door on the right and her Transport Officer pushed a button beside it. This door was automated and slid open automatically, though she knew full well that there would be no such switch on the other side of it... It appeared to be a small vestibule inside, with an identical door in the opposite side of it and she entered, but her accompanying Officer did not.

"Wait until this door is closed Peach" he told her simply, " then press the button to your left." She looked back up into his unmoving face for a moment, then the automated door did just that and she was alone...

She stood still for a moment and again realised that she had to do something of which she really had no choice over. She located the worn-looking button he had spoke of and pushed. The second door slid open and she paused before entering...

She saw that the door she was entering was the only door to this windowless plain room...Also that she was not alone any more. The man seated upon the bench to her left looked to be in his late 30s and alternative in appearance, her "kind" of person really. She noticed that he too wore cuffs upon his wrists and that didn't surprise her. He looked up. "Ola, chick" he said cheerily. "Hiya" Cheryl replied, "You been in here long? What's it like? And what are you IN for?" The man in front of her brought both his cuffed hands up to his face and tapped his nose with a slender finger. "For bein a naughty boy" he simply answered to her last question. Then "I'm Steve. Not got a scooby about yer other questions, cos I've not been here before. But I've been in other hotels as a guest of Her Maj and they're all pretty much..." he trailed off and guestured around them with both hands. Cheryl got it. She took a seat upon the hard bench next to him. "I'm Cheryl anyway" she said, "I'm here to -" But she stopped in her tracks as the door to the room slid open....

The figure of a man stood motionlessly in the doorway. Clad in monochrome, black boots, black trousers, white shirt, black tie. Functional. "Follow" he said simply. He stood to one side and they realised that it was another one of those choices that wasn't a choice at all. 'Hobson's choices' weren't they called? Cheryl wasn't sure where she had heard that before. But she figured that there would be many of this kind of 'choice' in here.... They both rose and did as he asked. The second door slid open too and as they followed the first Prison Officer they noticed a second who had opened the door for all three. "Ooh, door button presser" Steve said cheerily, "I always wanted to be a door button presser when I were little, that's a well good job. Do yer need many o them GCSEs fer it?" The stony silence in reply from either of their captors to that was telling, till one of them said simply "Move" and pointed down the hallway. They did as asked and Steve whispered conspiratorially to her "That might have been a bit too naughty of me. It does yer good if yer be very nice to them at all times. But I never know what's good fer me." They reached a door at the end of the hallway, this one much more of a typical prison door in her mind to Cheryl, heavy looking and no button by it's side. One of her captors jammed a thick key of his firmly into the lock and turned it...And that door swung open....

A larger room greeted them. Tiled floor again, flourescent-tube lit. And in it stood three more figures... There was a man in a dark suit with an official looking badge pinned to it's breast, fairly tall, standing perfectly straight. With the light overhead it was impossible to make out his face. And a woman beside him, black business-like skirt, white blouse, black tie, dressed in the woman's equivalent of the men who had brought them to this room, except Cheryl noticed that she too had a badge of rank pinned to her blouse. The third figure...was another woman. And she was naked. Cheryl looked at her and her gaze diverted meekly. There was a wholly submissive air about her, she stood slightly bowed, her face bearing a look of acceptance. Acceptance and....something else, something that showed that for her at least being in this room wasn't entirely unpleasant...

The lady in the uniform of an Officer spoke brusquely to the woman without a stitch on; "We're done. Now dress." Without a moment's hesitation her captive slunk away slowly, grabbing something orange from the rack beside her as she did so. Dismissal completed, the woman in authority turned to them. "You" she told Cheryl. "Strip." Cheryl paused. "But...I can't while..." she indicated around her at the men present. The woman she addressed merely smirked a little, and that was the only emotion to cross her face. "I gave you an order woman," she said, "If you know what's good for you, you'll obey. Naked. Now." Cheryl hesitated once again and looked across at Steve. His expression was neutral and he didn't speak at all. He knew the score here alright.

Suddenly Cheryl felt her thick dark hair being grabbed and she half-turned to see the man with the hidden face had extended his right arm and held it firmly in his grip, twisting slightly to hold her head firmly by this method. "One" he said firmly, "You are to address this lady as 'Deputy Governess' at all times. You will use her title whenever you answer a question she puts to you. Two, you are to be obedient to her in everything you do; Your words, your behaviour, your actions. Any delay in recognising her authority is a delay in recognising my authority. And that is something that neither of us, or any of our Officers at the SM Correctional Facility take very kindly to at all. Do I make myself clear?" Cheryl paused. "Yes..." she managed. "Yes, Governor" he corrected her and only when she repeated this mantra did he release her hair.

Cheryl saw that there was another expression on the Deputy Governess' face now under the surface, something besides firm authority, satisfaction of being complied with and an efficient business- like manner...and as the woman proceeded to slip her hand into a disposable rubber glove before pulling it ever so tight, Cheryl thought that she had a vague idea, just the merest inkling of what that expression might be... Enjoyment.

She looked coldly at Cheryl. "Well?!" she snapped abruptly.

Slowly Cheryl raised her cuffed hands to her neckline...and began to strip.....

Just to make everyone aware a glitch in Fab software has meant that an "autoblock" now comes down like a user has left site or had their profile suspended, even when they haven't with any first message sent and the message is deleted from our end from both profiles.

Which means unfortunately that some users will find that we are "blocked" which obviously puts a big hole in organising. Admin are looking into this problem, but we will have to wait to see if it lifts all the "autoblocks" thrown up?

Comsequently you may be getting messages fired through to you when this mess gets sorted with very little notice to the event itself and we can only apologise for this, but it is completely out of our hands.
