Send polite respectful messages.

Don't just say

I find if you message people with a bit of a sense of homour will get you a long way.

I only ever ignore a message is it's really short and basically says I love your tits, if the profile doesn't have anything in or if I don't reply straight away and keep getting messages it's off putting and also if they live ages away, what's the point in messaging someone who lives 20+ miles away when I have everything I can need within 20 miles

To the OP: this is genuine advice, not a dig.

Your profile is awful - it says nothing and only has a cock pic. Look at some of the profiles of successful men on here; they have plenty of full body pics, say something about what they're looking for (not just sex!), and show a bit of wit/humour. And the avatar has to change.

As someone above said, the odds are massively against you so you have to work to stand out.

Yes, I've got to agree that profile needs some work. No body pics, a one line effort in your profile. There's so many men who make an effort, show some personality, have decent pics, and they are the winners!

Most single guys just look at the pics and dont read the profile. Dont forget you are joining someone for their most intimate play so if disrespectable or just not read the profile lets of couples delete and move on.
