What's the best way to present a story here?

I (M) have written the story of our first meet from Fab, and I will eventually post it here. It's relatively long though (around 7300 words) and I notice that quite a few stories get broken up into sections.

That's not really my choice, I think I prefer a long read from start to finish (ooer!) but do people prefer stories broken up into separate posts like that?

Im not sure if a post has a character limit?

If not then I can only imagine that some split it up as they are typing directly to the post and need a break, or they are waiting for attention before proving the rest lol

Post however you like.

However a few things to consider. Long stories can be walls of text if it is a single post.

Breaking it down into chapters makes it easier to edit each section on the fly for typos etc.

Multi chapters tend to be more mobile friendly.

I have written a few stories. The shorter ones got more reads as far as I could tell based on responses. I have read a few that break the story up into chunks within the same thread. Gives people the initial gratification and the chance to reply before you post the next section inline. Those that find the story later can read it all in one go if they want to. That's how I'm going to do my next one at least. Look forward to reading it however you choose!

This!!! And in all honesty a little bit the attention, as someone else said!!

Post it all in 1, this waiting for attention, and people asking for more is rubbish since it started happening, a story is a story, just bang it on.

Done two stories....posted them in two parts (both fairly long, but not War and Peace long). Am not a lover of the "single paragraph every day" type of posted story, but then again it's what you feel happy doing that's the key. Post, and let us all read. xxx

Thanks for the thoughts all, it's been very useful.

The story will be going up in about a week or so, there's still some polishing (!) to be done. I think it will get broken up into sections purely for readability, but only over a couple of days or so.

readability is a story you can read from start to finish in 1 go, not having to wait for the next bit, but its your story, crack on.

Yes, I understand that. I meant readability more in terms of mobile devices, where 7000+ words is a lot of scrolling.

But then it all ends up in the same thread anyway, so who knows!

I think it depends on why you are writing?

If you write for recognition, then the stories broken up into small segments seem to get more comments.

Personally I prefer something to read rather than just a sentence or two.

If course, nothing stopping you from dividing your story into two or three sections. It would still be longer than most.

Yes, that's an interesting question.

It's no doubt influenced by recognition, as otherwise it wouldn't be published. But then I also think that if there is a lot of text, people may be inclined to skip through to the sexy bits, which isn't what I'm after.

I've often wondered about that myself.

I try to write a story, rather than just instant gratification for someone.

However mine are read, the feedback I get is always good.

Some people appreciate a story as well as the sex. And it is always nice to get feedback.

But it is a diverse community on here, something for everyone.

I would suggest doing what suits you. After all its your story.

so in your mind in some way it would be better to be just getting to a good bit then bang, have to scroll past the comments begging for more to see the next bit, like I said a story is a story if its gripping people will read it, but again its your story.

So in the end I did end up finishing the story. It's on the front page now, 'Our First FFM Meet Through Fab'.

I went for the 'wall of text approach', so please take a look and see what you think!

People ill have differing views, I prefer it broken into smaller sections rather than one long as it appears more erotic, however after saying that if the whole story is too long whether in one or broken down I tend to get bored by it anyway, remember its a story or fantasy and not a novel
