It is normal to be sore for a few days after a good session. Friction as well as stretching will of course have an impact. However, differing technique can make the difference between a pleasurable experience and a painful experience while it is happening, so maybe some women are afraid because they have been with guys who did not make it pleasurable at the time?

This is only my opinion though - I may be wrong
