0 to 100 is 101 numbers in total so 0 + 100 is 100 , 1 + 99 is 100 2+ 98 is 100 , carry on with that sequence and you have 50 pairs of numbers that add up to 100 which is 5000 but the number 50 is right in the middle and doesn't have a pair so

you add that to 5000 on its own which is 5050 , not sure if I've explained it well though sorry lol

The sum of any list of consecutive numbers is

Add the first and last then multiply by half the numbers of numbers.

1 to 10 is 11 x 5

1 to 20 is 21 x 10

1 to 100 is 101 x 50
